Mostly a meme. There is no goal or whatever, so it's only fun if you like, enjoy make believe shit with no conclusion. So basically, a playthrough where you do nothing but stand in one spot for 5 hours and then die, or a playthrough where to run around, get money, and build a house, are both equally valid in the sense that neither is fulfilling a real goal, and both can end at any time. There's no real sense of accomplishment in anything. Not my kinda thing.

It's only fun if you've the creativity to make it fun. It's a sandbox with a lot of freedom, but very little handholding or a defined goal, so if you've the attention span of the average zoomer you won't like it

I enjoyed it and will re-visit it someday. It's the closest thing we will get to a modern "another world" game. It oozes atmosphere and I enjoy the brutality of some of the difficulty - knowledge of the world is what protects you - when first starting out you can accidentally wander into a place that will just wipe you. Things can easily go from bad to worse if you are not prepared.
Has a better stealth system than 90% of modern AAA "stealth" games.
There is more going on than you would guess by looking at screenshots or videos.

I enjoyed the hell out of it, currently have over 600 hours of play. However, the first two posts are correct. There's very little direction and you have to make your own fun. I also had a lot of fun trying to piece together the lore and the world's backstory.

it's fun if you are the kind of person who can create a story for yourself within a sandbox. not everybody likes that kind of thing. Kenshi has no goal so you have to make your own fun

I've been having a decent bit of fun with it, but I'm not sure how far to go before making a campaign

Feels really unfinished, easily exploitable, but can be a fun time waster if you can get past the shit ugly UI / bugs

I liked it a lot. Sometimes it can be boring if you just complete something you wanted to do and are aimless until you decide on the next task. But the seeming hopelessness, the setbacks, and overcoming the former are all great, as is the sense of progression of your character and team. The music is great, too. It's definitely not a game for everyone, especially since most people like direct control of a character, and the systems and UI seem daunting when starting out(though the tutorial pop-ups are very detailed and helpful).

As always, stick with a campaign until you beat Daddy C.

I mean, you could also lose it all in half a second. I don't really see any real accomplishment there. You're playing to get somewhere, but it's not even skill based, more like time investment based. I prefer shit like Ninja Gaiden where you are forced to get genuinely good and train reflexes and shit to actually progress and move onto the next challenge, not play a game where you can theoretically keep playing or stop playing at any time and be just as accomplished as anyone else based on your own subjective feelings of what accomplishment if. If that's fine by you, then sure, maybe you'd also enjoy beating the first level of ninja gaiden and then turning off the game, patting yourself on the back as that was "enough accomplishment to make (you) satisfied".

You can play with permadeath. If your main dude dies or you're wiped out, you start over. It's fun as fuck. My guys died fighting a horde of fucking land bats, only one of my humans survived but she went mad (I pretended she got raped by land bats)

thats part of the fun, rolling with the punches and picking yourself back up. I like skill-based games, too, but the strategy of picking your battles and attempting whatever you set out to do in games like this are fun as well. It's just a different type of game, and it sounds like it's simply not your cup of tea
