>Game is set in the kamakura period >Characters are wearing clothes from the sengoku period >Early reviews are calling the gameplay a "boring mess"
Good job, Sucker Punch.
This is why white people (or any diverse team of foreigners) should be banned from making video games set in Japan.
Foreigners can ape the black and white of a Kurosawa movie and superimpose it over another boring sandbox game, but they will never understand the convolutions of Japanese culture and how that culture informs their aesthetics or design ethos (see "merihari" from kabuki theater and how it informs movement in Japanese games).

You have no idea of what you're talking about lol

Gonna need a citation there bud

>This is why white people (or any diverse team of foreigners) should be banned from making video games set in Japan. If this happened, we wouldn't get games like Shogun or Shadow Tactics though. Tsushima is shit because it's another soulless, AAA open world game, not because of foreigners making games with Japanese settings.

>An Assassin's Creed of the Poor
>The American studio Sucker Punch Productions has abandoned its Infamous series to embark on an even more ambitious production: Ghost of Tsushima. Rather fan, despite their imperfections, of the Infamous games, I was looking forward to this new game, especially since its theme really interested me.
>Ghost of Tsushima takes place in 1274, on the Japanese island of Tsushima, during the first Mongolian invasion. And don't look for any other historical reference. The developers explained that they took some liberties with the events of the time... and that's an understatement. They totally reinvented history. If you were looking for an adventure rooted in a piece of Japanese history, forget it. This is a total rewriting of what happened back then.
>And frankly, as much as it pains me to say this, it's far from a success. On every level. Scenaritarily poor, technically average, Ghost of Tsushima is a big failure. A hundred times I've wanted to let go of the controller to move on to something else so much I got bored. A hundred times I came back to it, forced and obliged to have enough material to write this test. Between annoyance, boredom, lack of interest... but faced with a game (unfortunately, for the time being) with a long life span, I lived a real ordeal, controller in my hands. Sucker Punch Productions has crashed in the wide open and the disappointment is all the more bitter as my expectations were high.
The cultural and historical accuracy in Shogun is shit too. Even the Japanese is fucked up. "Double-time" in Japanese is "kakeashi" and the Japanese general says "BAI NO HAYASA DE~".
Face it, you can't make competent works on a theme you're illiterate in.
Connor Roberts
If it was made by based bugmen you would never complain about whatever period and tolerate anything, even characters wearing diapers and gameplay being musou shit.

>Provide a counter-argument, please.
no, youre making the statement so provide proof you know what youre talking about not even the guy youre replying to desu
Andrew Hill
Because it wouldn't be a AAA game touted as "realistic", which is something westerners are obsessed with, not Japanese.
Michael Gonzalez
What does AAA even means nowadays? Its a buzzword. And who said its realistic? Japs would suck raw dick balls deep in any fight if it was realistic.

Can you tell the difference between Japanese food made by Japanese people and a Japanese sushi buffet run by Mexicans at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport?
Many American video games attempt to capture their subject realistically. That's why, as games become more capable of photorealism, American games become more and more samey and bland.
What part was autistic? Remember, mean words with no substance only show that you have a weak argument.
>foreigners make a game about america >"yo it's not like that here at all hahah. " no one thinks too deeply on it >americans make a game about foreigners >"noooooooooooooooo you can't do that noooooo"
Landon Smith
Sure, and I am Japanese.

Maybe the guy shouldn't play games on 'game reviewer' difficultly to formulate a better opinion.
Jayden Miller
Loosely based on a time period LOOSELY LOOSE-LY do you understand what that word means?
Ian Parker
Interesting that you are divining this knowledge from the text written on a website that has now been taken down by Sony's crack lawyer team.
Your mom's puss is loose, but she doesn't like to admit it either.
Logan Baker
Since you understand the meaning of the word loosely I take it you concede your point?

You're trying too hard tortanicfags, the pattern is too visible even for newfags, play your cards well because you're losing grip post after post
>ignore that it's shit, we must consoom I don't know why you retards got hyped at all after we saw it was bamham.
Jeremiah Campbell
You've convinced me. The mode of storytelling personified in American Hollywood films like The Last Samurai or the video game Ghost of Tsushima is exactly the same as that found in Japanese action games like Sengoku Musou.
Fucking idiot.
Huh? Americans will buy it for sure.
They have no standards. And why should they? They don't know any better.
Ryder Walker
I wonder if this game will sell 100,000 copies in Japan.
