Don't do it. The gameplay's alright but the endless amount of terrible anime dialogue and more unskippable cutscenes than a modern Pokemon game make it a chore to sit through. Even as a huge Digimon fan I can't bring myself to play it anymore.

How did Kyoko (and also Rie) end up in thereal world? I thought her real body is gone since Alphamon pretty much became her

alphamon literally explained this in the ending, kyoko/rie's mental data got eaten, alphamon/crusadermon replaced said mental data, essentially "possessing" them

I assumed from that cutscene that she pretty much assimilate Kyoko since Alphamon & Kyoko share the same consciousness. But I guess Alphamon restored Kyoko & Rie's mental data the same way she restored the MC's ?

no, kyoko/rie were restored just like every other EDEN syndrome patient, killing the mother eater released said mental data and allowed it to return to their owners
the MC's mental data is a completely different situation, it never got eaten so it never was released from the mother eater. the MC's mental data is the avatar itself, it got worn out from eroding the avatar little by little from going inside eaters, and eventually destroyed. the MC is saved because their (your) digimon and alphamon were close enough to you that they managed to re-assemble a copy of the MC's mental data from fragments made by their memories of time spent with you

The digimon models and combat is alright, but why is this franchise so cursed when it comes to storytelling? Was Digimon Adventure a miracle?

Okay, I did remember Nokia said that Rie was one of the EDEN patient that woke up in one of the final cutscenes. But she also said that she never saw Kyoko again after the incident which led me to think that Kyoko wasn't one of the patient. Guess it was just to throw you off for that twist ending.

Hacker's Memory is better.
