She’s just not a really likable character. Her attitude would’ve been fine if she faced some sort of comeuppance for it but that never really happens in her arc. She ends up gaining friends instead of pushing them away so there’s no real reason to feel any sort of sympathy for her since she ends up winning either way. Now compare her to the Moon slink in P4. Similar trope, popular bitchy girl with a sad backstory that explains why she’s so bitchy, the difference though is that Ai faces the consequences of her actions. She has no friends because of her attitude, everyone spreads awful rumors about her, and the guy she likes is put off by her personality. She’s basically the same girl getting bullied like she was when she was fat. She gains nothing because she’s a terrible person so she decides better herself and that makes her the more likable and sympathetic character. Also her “banter” with Junpei is incredibly one sided. The most he ever does is flirt a bit and act goofy and almost every time Yukari shuts him down. Now comparatively, Yosuke is much more antagonistic than Junpei. He tries multiple to peep on the girls naked or in swimsuits and insults everybody so his banter with them doesn’t feel as one sided because you know he could punch back just as hard if he wanted to. The only time Junpei ever really “punches back” is when he yells at Yukari after she makes fun of him for being scared of dying but that doesn’t really end up matter since their relationship goes back to usual after it
