The best time to do this port was 5-10 years ago. The second best time is now. I wish 343 didn't fuck up Reach on PC so hard for months because this really should've felt like a monumental moment. It's still really fun though.

Though not exactly its peak in popularity, I think more people would've been interested in Halo 3 for PC before the market moved on to fresher pastures and 343 more or less soured the franchise's future.

It's actually quite refreshing from all the shit we've gotten in the last five years. Halo 3's structure feels so humble in comparison, yet still has that still lights that fire in your eyes every match.

Personally, my taste in what makes an FPS good evolved a lot in Halo's absence from PC. Not that it aged poorly, just that it feels more retro than it needs to.
Also, Halo 3's gunplay is not at all made for PC, more so than any of the other MCC installments so far. The bullet magnetism and aim assist were absurd in these games.

It's been at least ten years since I've played a Halo game, and while I remember the movement being slow, I forgot how ridiculously low the TTK was and that everyone started with precision weapons.

I view it as a Novetly really, it's nice to pick up and play but if your trying to jump in for the original experience that's long since gone. Community's a shell of it's former self and no use crying to Zig Forums because nobody here was around for Halo threads Pre-4 who actually cared about those threads, there's a thousand multiplayer games out there now so Halo doesn't have the monopoly it once did and the current series owners are running new games into the ground faster than the retreads. Not even Halo Machinama are around anymore after the Nuking of Machinama, sure a few big names recovered a few videos but those small name videos are lost forever.
