Comfy VR thread

What are you playing Zig Forumsros?
What vr set are you using?

I am at week 12 on the index waiting list and I am starting to lose hope to ever get it. Should I just cancel it and settle with oculus go? I want to play with anime girls so much.

>had to sell my index after waiting for 3 months in line without even being able to unpack the box
Real life sucks dicks.

On the bright side, you spared yourself all the RMA hussle.

>oculus go?
I hope you meant Quest because that's a criminally little amount of market research you did for a 1000$ purchase if you think Go can substitute it.

Just buy a Quest. Same quality and experience, fraction of the price.

Beat Saber is literally all I need to make VR worth it. Beat Saber is a lifestyle.

>Same quality and experience
Who are you trying to shit here bro?
The only reason I bothered ordering was Alyx and without index knuckles you might as well just download that mod which allows you to play it on pc without a headset.

I ordered a Rift S 8 days ago and its still processing. Feels bad man.

I wanted to try The VR surgeon simulator Game, but unfortunately it seems to be utterly unplayable tier Broken
like you get a black screen and nothing can fix it, at most you can delay when it apears, but the momeny you pause or fail you will be stuck with a black screen

He's not very off the mark, especially if you use Alyx as benchmark which Valve made easy to play on all devices and, frankly, it highlights some of the Index's issues such as poor blacks.
Both Index and Quest are still 1st gen headsets, if anything then Quest is more advanced as it offers standalone and wireless PCVR operation.

Retard. The Oculus Touch controllers are knuckle controllers.

Don't be an idiot.

>without index knuckles you might as well just download that mod
you might be misinformed as to the extent of the use the finger tracking gets. or you're retarded.

Isn't Oculus making a new headset this year? The HP Reverb G2 also sounds like a cheaper Index with better screen colors.

WMR though. Fuck WMR.

He is correct. The Oculus controllers are comparable to the Index controllers meaning you get the same gameplay experience and the Quest link works flawlessly. No reason to get any other headset. To say otherwise is just cope over spending 3x as much as you needed to.

Shill me the best VR headset, I've had an index on order for 2 months and still nothing, I saw that the oculus rift S is back in stock and get to me in 2 weeks, the quest also seems interesting as I don't have much space but that isn't too much troubles, what should I get? Or should I just wait?

the controllers look like shit
I'm biased because I have a quest but I've been having a good time with it. previously owned some older headsets and the lack of cables is nice. have to get a Gb connection through my house before I give judgement on virtual desktop though.

the absolute best headset is the index, so you should just wait since you can afford it. in terms of best for the price, i would say its probably the rift s. everything about it is very solid, not as good as something high end like the index, but the price is obviously not as high either

Does the lower refresh rate and FOV bothered you? When connected with PC it should be better, right?

Thinking of getting a quest but not sure if I should wait for an upgraded version or G2.

the fov bothers me when I'm sitting in steamVR waiting for something to load as that's when it's most noticeable. but actually playing anything I don't notice it. same with any light bleed coming from the nose gap. haven't connected it to my PC yet because wireless was the whole reason I got it but from what little I've read what I've played through virtual desktop should be similar and there is a noticeable difference between games designed specifically for and running on the quest vs games streamed from the pc. basically don't get a quest if you're after the top of the line specs and graphics at any cost because you'll just return it. also I only notice the refresh rate when playing e+ beat saber.

Yeah but the delay isn't justifiable with that price.

Tell me about the quest an oculus in general, I know it's standalone but does that mean it has weak graphics/immersion? I also heard you can connect it to your PC, does that mean you can actually run games on your PC with it to bring up the graphics? And can you use steam games or are you tied to the oculus store?

the quest certainly has weaker graphics than a more standard vr headset, but you can connect it to your PC with a cable or even wirelessly in order to use your PCs power to run games that wouldnt be able to run on the quest itself. you can use steam games on the quest if you are connected to your pc that has the games on it

How much can the CPU be a bottleneck in VR?
I still have an i7 3770k and while in general everything runs perfectly fine, once some bigger action is going on the framerate often drops into the 40s while the GPU (gtx1080) seems to be twiddling its thumbs according to vrfps.
I guess the CPU simply can't handle the physics calculations and the like anymore.

playing pavlov on cv1

No op, you shouldn't settle with oculus go, you probably meant quest. Go is a 3dof google cardboard thingy, it's hardly considered as VR nowadays. Go is basically Rift DK1.

graphically the quest specific games are not great. I've played a lot of the ports from pc to quest and the graphics are always toned down. basically it's a big android device so the graphics have to take a hit to perform well. you can use a link cable or the charging cable the quest comes with but you'll want something longer. connecting a link cable to your pc lets you play oculus/steam games yes. alternatively you can use something like virtual desktop and play steam vr wirelessly which is what I do because I hate giving a shit about cables.

the one thing about the quest that I fucking hate is the tendency for inside out tracking to fuck up while I'm playing something with rifles where shouldering the rifle puts the controller in front of a camera and it freaks out fucking my aim up.

Yes, your CPU is a major bottleneck here, especially for gtx1080, and not just in VR. If you have tiny occasional lags in any game, it's CPU. If framerate drops when you start moving sometimes, it's also your CPU. If you can, upgrade it.

How good is the virtual desktop stream?
Any noticeable latency? How is the visual quality?

Will do.
I mean that thing is like what, almost a fucking decade old by now?

New quest coming out at the end of the year makes me look so dumb getting it 2 weeks ago.
Wish I could just buy and have the room to set up index.
