Either completely separate it from the current universe/characters or make it Athena game, possibly with the plot involving her working overseas.

More Apollo backstory.

A psuedo reboot of sorts.

I mean yeah it can have Phoenix, Apollo, and a plot following on from AA6 etc, but since it's on a console now, it needs a gameplay revamp, particularly to its investigation segments.

Probably the easiest way to do that is to just have interactive 3D environments Phoenix can run around physically, and you look at shit/talk to people by walking up to them,then it goes into a traditional perspective to select stuff more intimately like in the older games.

No longer do you have to find everything,To the point you can say fuck it all and go home despite that being a terrible idea, but as a result there is a LOT more evidence to find and collect. Basically the goal is to get an overall picture of the case via evidence, and there is something in the HUD to help visualize your progress, also Phoenix gives a summary of his opinion if you end the investigation, kind of like he did anyway in the classic games, but now it's not a static message to help the player make a decision if the investigation's done.

Cases go mostly the same, but now they are branching paths because of the revamped system, sometimes looping back into itself or sometimes going off in a different direction, but ultimately it leads to a guilty or not guilty verdict. If you get guilty, you probably fucked up on the investigation so you go back to there (With all current evidence gathered) and try again.

Now obviously I'm not a game designer, and this is all just a messy summary of gameplay off the top of my head and would require a ton of effort and polishing to make, but I do feel it would fix a lot of complaints to the AA series, such as investigation being boring, repeatability etc and it would make it more of a "console" evolution to the series to justify the price tag and get the series back on the radar.

I want to see AA7, period.

I want to get rid of all the stupid lawyer cyber-punk shit. It is seriously the main thing I hate in this series, because it fundamentally undermines what makes the series appealing, which is the relatability of something as mundane as law practice having a dramatic and heartfelt story underneath the humor. The more relatable the setting, the more effective the immersion is. But then a bunch of internet "smart people" felt a need to point out that it wasn't an exact emulation of the american court system, so they started all this retarded world building where there's holograms, a law system different to ours, and a bunch of bullshit in the english version how the Japs immigrated here in the 1800's or something.
STOP IT. Keep the setting as close to ours as possible. Despite certain inaccuracies, the in-game law system is close enough to both the American and Japanese law systems to be relatable and understood by your typical average joe.

I know it's nearly impossible, but I'd love to see a game in which, instead of alternating between Phoenix, Apollo and Athena, it alternates between Phoenix and Edgeworth, with cases in the style of Ace Attorney Investigations. Maybe all the cases are interconected to the same scheme, maybe they help each other with the information they gather, maybe even they get to different positions at the end of the game and they have to battle each other in court at the end of the game, maybe you wuld even alternate between them in the same trial.
Daydreaming aside, I want Gumshoe back, maybe Maggey too, less magical/mystical bullshit, less Kurain, less Khura'in, less magic devices with overly specific magic powers with no explanation.
I'd also love to see Iris free and getting her shit together with Phoenix.

If you're Phoenix, fine, but have it a few years later and Apollo/Athena/Trucy living their own lives somewhere and have them show up fleetingly in a case or two if the plot calls for them. Maya or Pearl are you assistant and you're main rival is Edgeworth. Haul all the shit back to the basics lol.

Or failing that, have Apollo Justice/Athena Sykes: Ace Attorney (one or the other) and have the story focus on one of them, with Phoenix as your mentor, and Trucy/a new assistant. Again, reel it back to a new starting point for the story.

Trying to juggle Phoenix/Apollo/a new direction' plots in AA5 and 6 was messy and hurt them, particularly to newcomers.
