If they wanted this game to be brutal they could have done it way better.
For example;
>Ellie finds abby and lev >Ellie cuts down lev, then moves to cut down abby >cue flashback of abby torturing joel to death >Ellie gets pissed off >starts torturing lev to death in front of abby with abby begging her to stop >gets flashback of how similar lev and abbys relationship is to her and joels >has moment of clarity >gets pissed off again and kills lev anyway >Ellie can't quite believe what she's done etc etc and stares at abby for a short time while abby screams at her and threatens her etc etc >Ellie walks off to a boat with abby still strung up, still screaming at her >farm scene, Ellie has severe PTSD >realises she basically became abby >shoots self
Or something like that, I'm not a screenwriter. Would have been way better than the stupid 10 minute fight and Ellie changing her mind a billion times anyway

I would have been more pissed if Joel died at the end of the game. The way they did it worked out, I think the player grieves with Ellie and only at the end of the game closure is found. Imagine him dying at the end and then having to wait another 6 years for closure.
