Can anyone actually give me a good reason why I shouldn’t buy this game?

Because you can just grab it for free instead.

Don't link the threads, that's how you get banished to /vg/

Because you can't decide for yourself

Sure - does it look interesting to you? No? Don't.
If it does then go for it.

hair clipping through ear. 2/10 would not buy

It hasn’t been confirmed you can kill this ugly bitch or fuck the goblin yet

If it's anything like Divinity you'll be able to kill everyone

Pretty much. Every companion introduced so far has had a dialog option to immediately go hostile. For the gith you can convince the tiefling who caged her to kill her on the spot. Or just let her rot in her cage.

They are trying to use your nostalgia to earn money and this should be a first red flag. Original Baldurs Gate saga ended with Throne of Baal and it closed story of Baal son decently.

bg3 is just '"faerun adventure, feat. old hag jaheira, probably" and i'm fine with that. i just love the forgotten realms setting. i think it's infinitely more interesting than fucking gay lotr

Do you want Baldur's Gate 3? Then don't get it.
Do you want Divinity 3: OC Donut Steel? Then get it.

Since this probably is the general crpg thread I might as well ask here
Is Black Geyser somehow being developed by a branch of Obsidian or ex-employees who worked on Pillars of Eternity? It's been in development for literal years without seemingly making any progress and instead it looks like the most soulless and blatant attempt at copying it, even down to the UI

Didn't read, still buying day one

There actually is a crpg general on /vg/. Pretty chill right now, only started being made as of yesterday.
Not sure about Black Geyser desu. It doesn't look like it's doing anything particularly new or interesting, and I haven't heard of any dev news in the past ten months or so. Of all the crpgs currently in development, it seems to be the least interesting.

Wait why should I buy this game again?
What's interesting about it besides its name?

play the originals if you haven't
>get bgee
>don't get sod
>get bg2ee
>install the mod that takes out the ee companions
>install the mod that replaces the bg1 cinematic with the original ones
>play on core rules
>play a human berserker, and dualclass to a mage at level 9. this is strong, fun, and fits the story lore perfectly
>use this portrait cause you're a fucking chad
>play chaotic good since you're a kind heart struggling with chaitic power
this is my idea of canon playthrough

>There actually is a crpg general on /vg/. Pretty chill right now, only started being made as of yesterday.
>Check out 'CRPG general'
>It's a PF:K general in disguise
>One third of the posts are made by the same person
hard pass

It wasn't made by the same BioWare team from 2003.

>It's a PF:K general in disguise
yeah, it was made after /pfg/ became unable to sustain itself, so now it's /pfg/+whatever else you want to talk about. Mostly KotC2.

co-op and a mostly faithful adaptation of the D&D ruleset.
If those things don't interest you then you shouldn't feel the need to buy it.

i'm disappointed in the lacks of mods for nwn, particularly for the ui. i know there's countless custom campaigns but the base ui is so bad, like having the conversation text up in the corner is asinine. one day i'll finish it. i got to act 2 once, playing a monk, it was heaps fun being basically able to walk through traps and not worry about poison/disease. although it would suck not being able to use cool magic swords/armour that i find. i'm a loot whore at heart, it's why i usually tend towards fighter types with big 2handed swords

If I bought BG 1 and 2 EE, can I bring my character from 1 into 2?

do you mean bgee and bg2ee? or bg1 classic and bg2ee. if both ee then yeah definitely you're meant to import your character from a finished bg1 run and carry a character through the whole saga. if you mean bg1 classic into bg2ee i have no idea, it might work but i haven't tried

Can't reason with stupit.

Yes.

No reason, it looks fine. If they use denuvo or go exclusive with the egs jews though, I'm not giving them a fucking penny and swearing off larian.

>needing Zig Forums to validate your purchase decisions or taste in video games

I just gave you a good reason to just go ahead and off yourself, at least.

Steam and Stadia versions are already confirmed
Historically speaking Larian hasn't bothered with implementing any sort of DRM outside of the extend of the games being sold on platforms such as Steam which inherently are their own type of DRM. You could even use pirated versions of their old games for multiplayer.

The only good threads on /vg/ are only good for a laugh and nothing else since the whole threads are just players of the game in question just absolutely taking a dump on it. That's how you differentiate a "good" /vg/ thread from one populated by discord fags.

True, but they're answering to the demands of WotC right now for the 'privilege' of working on a baldur's gate.

I'm currently playing SoD and it's kind of allright. The writing of the characters is pretty shit though. What where they thinking?

You mean like WotC's demands for removing alignment, which Larian put back in again?

This. SoD is fine, and it does a great job bridging the two games if nothing else, just go in expecting the writing to be shit.

>which Larian put back in again?
This is news to me. What was their reasoning for this?

shoehorning in irenicus is cringe as fuck. the games didn't need any more bridging

The games didn't have ANY bridging before that, except some small lampshades, like Centeol mentioning Irenicus, or Prism meeting Ellisime.

No idea. At one point Swen mentioned they were already working on a system before WotC asked them to tone it down, then they mention alignment as if it was never going out. Seems to have a lot of interaction with companions and npcs.

user, bad news for you - there will be NO companions outside the ones that can double as origin characters. This is the one thing which bummed me out greatly in regards to the game.

In that case I'm going to assume it's just flavour text for different dialogue options.

Isn't that weird asking though? People usually ask why they SHOULD buy something, or at least to list the pros and cons. That stance makes you seem like you are unsure that you will like it from the very beginning and you just want people to justify your decision.

it had a cutscene at the start of 2, and 1 had sarevok saying "i will be the last, you will go first". it had enough and more importantly it is very artogant of beamdog to assume that the series needed any kind of fixing or that anything they could add would make the games better.

Well, yeah. You foiled the Iron Throne's plot, became local celebrities, and were otherwise living things up as a low-mid level adventurer of good repute when you got kidnapped and carried across the border by a psychotic mage whose identity and motivations you didn't know in the slightest. It was a hell of an adventure hook out of nowhere.

i meabt i'm expecting to maybe meet jaheira or hear her name, not that she would be a companion
