But we have literature from before that and haikus weren't a thing,we have details of the origins of haiku,they are well documented
Haiku were a variant of tanka poetry, which had a 5-7-5-7-7 meter. The basic premise was similar but haiku were based off the hokku, or opening verse, of classical Japanese poetry, without continuing on further. Haiku existed but not as stand-alone poems - they were parts of larger poems. To say "haiku were invented in the 17th century" is one of those things that's technically true but also quite misleading.
