The combat is good

The combat is good
you're just bad at it

BotW has combat?

How can you be bad at whackong the same five enemies with various sticks for 200 hours?

My only complaint is that it doesn't let you switch which enemy you're locked on to unless you un-lockon, move closer to the other one, then re-lockon
it should be like Xenoblade where you can switch with either the Dpad or R/L

But being good at it makes it even worse.

this nigga knows

Dislike

I think it's more fun and nuanced than people give it credit for, in spite of its seeming 'simplicity'. It's as in-depth and complex as you make it

The combat is bad
you're just good at it

Someone post the lance poking webm

At first it’s great, but the longer you play the more you know the patterns and it’s boring

>being good at it makes it even worse.

the combat is genuinely fun at the high/autist tier, it's much more technical than it appears on the surface.

This is good combat according to OP.

The control scheme is Star Fox Zero tier.
Also the A.I. has no audible awareness, and there's no threat from monsters unless you create it. Bosses are pushovers and uncreative, like all of the five recycled enemy variants. Flurry rush is the worst mechanic I've seen in a long time. The series has become lost up its own ass, much like Star Wars.
Go fuck yourself and your game from 1998.

this was patched years ago

Flurry rush is optional now?

flurry rush is still in the game

the hitbox glitches with flurry were patched

Not a single accurate statement in this post

Oh you think inefficiency is what being "good" at it means. Sorry I didn't know you were retarded.

I really enjoy BotW, but can't stand combat that's all about "wait for the cue and push the button at exactly the right time". And no, I don't enjoy Souls games.

>inefficiency
everything shown is far more efficient than standard combat.

It doesn't help that there are only 4 or 5 enemy types besides all those arbitrary enemies like chu chu and bats

I just throw my infinite supply of bombs at everything.

>arbitrary enemies
not sure what you mean by this

Literally incorrect.

Combat is one of the weakest part. Ragdoll, autistic mobs standing there and taking jt, same mobs recolored, few bosses uneventful.

BOTW is the prime example of a game that is literally mediocre but praised and given 10/10 reviews.

yeah sure, wiping out 5 guardians in about 3 seconds with a single shield and no durability use is "inefficient", apparently.

They hardly matter to the game in regards of combat. Chuck a bomb, run and detonate kill every one of them

>Also the A.I. has no audible awareness, and there's no threat from monsters unless you create it.

No they react to sound (like a missed arrow shot) and will attack if you get even semi close to a camp

>Bosses are pushovers and uncreative, like all of the five recycled enemy variants.

The mini bosses are nothing like any of the basic enemies you fight in the overworld. Most of them are gigantic and can one shot you unless you're at the endgame and fully leveled. Lyionals are pretty challenging to kill and not run out of weapons/arrows and they can REALLY one shot you. And that's to speak nothing of the divine beast bosses, who, while perhaps a bit underwhelming for 'main' bosses, are a bit tricky

>Flurry rush is the worst mechanic I've seen in a long time
whys that? I thought it was fun and rewarding

You can find 'flaws' with literally any games combat, none are perfect, perfect in this case meaning 'what I happen to prefer'. But to come in a thread and straight up lie is just retarded.

that's always been true of chuchus in every zelda game, I still don't see how that makes them "arbitrary"?

imagine playing the game like this

It appears my superiority has led to some controversy

BotW's combat is fine. Haters just latch on to the combat to give themselves something to complain about lol

>Melee is mapped to Y instead of RT
>Camera is entirely manual
>Have to take your thumb off the camera to melee
Game design 101, and these retards missed it, for what purpose? Because bows are like guns and FPS games use RT/RB?
Enemies legitimately have no awareness in some cases, e.g. fighting on a Bokoblin platform and the enemies below won't recognize the ruckus occurring five feet above them. Guardians won't acknowledge bomb explosions unless it hits them. It's selective, at best.
Bosses are absolutely the easiest enemies in the game, from Blights to Hinoxes, to rock lobsters. Total pansies.
>Trying to fight a group of enemies
>Dodge
>Game slows down, QTE presents itself whether you want it or not
If they had played their own game they would've quickly realized manual activation is far superior, but EAD doesn't actually play vidya. They just slap together easily marketable garbage for job security.

BOTW's combat is alright. I like how the game discourages you from running head first into some fights and using other means to defeat enemies. I could fight these groups of Bokoblin on my own but I can shoot this bee hive right next to them to get rid of them.

Wow, what amazing combat.

Arbitrary in the sense they aren't worth discussing compared to bokos. The fire/ice/electric ones are cool for gimmick reasons. When people talk combat, they talk the more complicated fights like boko / lizal swarms, moblins, black-type enemies or stronger, lynels and the bosses. Not the ones you just toss a bomb at, kill and run from moment one you get access to bombs.

Lol

The game discourages you from combat entirely as if it knows it's pointless and terrible.

Yeah and I can shove a boss into the corner in sekiro and kill him. You can abuse any games combat mechanics if you try hard enough

This shit cracks me up. 'The game discourages combat'. Are you just purposely not trying to enjoy the game? This argument has no 'arches', no premise. It's worth fighting because fighting is fun and rewarding in and of itself. I don't get 'anything' from playing pickup football with my friends but I do it because it's fun. You're a fucking retard and your argument is stupid.

The problem with the game isn't the combat

The problem is there's only four samey dungeons, the game holds your hand all the way through each of them, and doing all of them makes the final boss completely anticlimactic and so easy as to not be the least bit fun.

seeTheir awareness in regards to sound seems to vary between stationary trash mobs and more mobile patrol types, like horseback bokoblins or guardians.
Interestingly I noticed that goblins that are asleep or "relaxing" are more aware than ones who are standing guard, so to speak. Archer bokoblins in particular are the dumbest enemies in the game, their awareness much like a security camera cone of vision and rigidly stationary to their position, even on alert.

This is absolutely breathtaking combat. Unmatched by any other game.

got the video where link pokes lizards with a lance?

The combat is bad, everyone is good at it.

>not using infinite-use weapons against endlessly-respawning trash mobs

Oh wow let me cheese isolated game glitches. That'll prove the game is shit!

Top kek you've been at this for 4 fucking years now lmao

True, I'll just practice and get good at it instead of complaining about it.

It isn't even good by Zelda standards.

It's atrociously bad but it's okay, no one plays Zelda to fight enemies.

Keep seething ACfag. Its only been 4 years

Wow, it's almost like if you play the game until you have 320 lightning arrows and a completely blown-out stamina bar, then even difficult fights become easy! what bad game design!

What is being abused here? What excuses can nintendies make for bad coding?

Attached: 1593302936056.webm (640x360, 1.54M)

yeah people play Zelda for many things that are not in BOTW. They decided to do a big, empty, open world instead.

>literally a better BotW

It just feels so engaging. I love the combat in this game.

If you think that's good you need to play more games. What's impressive about Bullet Time? Go play Max Payne. It'll blow your mind.
