There's politics and then there's politics. I feel like I have to explain this in every thread where politics in games gets brought up. When people say they don't want politics in games what they mean is issues relating to current events and/or (American) electoral politics. Anything involving people interacting is inherently political in some way. Only a stubborn fool would deny that since that's definitionally what politics is. But that does not make politics in the broadest sense at all the same as politics in the colloquial narrow sense. The intentional conflation of the two is itself a political agenda (figuring out whose is left as an exercise for the reader).
