I played pretty extensively on PS4 and it was pretty fun for a while. The grind never gets any better though and I found that I had the most fun setting goals for myself and accomplishing them. There's lots of things to go after but it boils down to how much you enjoy the actual gameplay.

They advanced the story and the result is you aren't the choreframe, the choreframes are techno-parasite-infused victims of a weapons program meant to create things able to fight sentient AI farming equipment
It turns out that YOU are a psychic child immune to the not-warp (adults go crazy from exposure to not-warp) able to keep the choreframes from going into a killing frenzy
Now you can push a button (once you progress far enough) to pop outside of your warframe as a psychic ghost of your child ("Operator Mode") that can do stuff for a short while before returning back to the warframe
But you're not actually in the warframe, you're in a biomechanical pod on your ship controlling the frame

Making your Tenno look ok is the only difficult thing in the game.

I took a break too just before Warframe Guns of Icarus: Rogue Squadron came out; haven't reinstalled and it sounds like Railjack is its own thing that does nothing at all, doesnt even give you access to hard-to-farm mats or special mods or weapons or anything
