the problem with the nu-PM games is theres no one problem, everything from core fucking gameplay to world structure to basic character design to even the writing itself is all shitted up. they'd have to throw everything out at this point, stickerstar is like a parasite taken root and it needs to be completely removed or else its contamination will still fuck everything to hell

One of the speculated mandates is that spin off characters stay in spin offs (Daisy and Waluigi), races are region locked, and that characters from other "canons" stick to that canon and never cross over to Mario's with a few exceptions (Donkey Kong Country characters and Warioware characters stay within those games)

Piantas and Nokis still show up in Mario Kart, Tanabe just doesn't know shit and thinks Toads are the only friendly NPC species in mainline Mario

What is with you fags and this "Mario Story =/= Paper Mario" thing? The only Paper Mario that was called Mario Story in Japan was 64. TTYD was "Paper Mario RPG" and SPM was just Super Paper Mario. Even if the games weren't the way they are now they'd still be called Paper Mario in Japan.

Yeah that seems likely. Fucking incredible that not even E. Gadd can make it into Mario Kart despite being in Sunshine and M&L before this mandate was a thing. So a party of Klepto, Topper, possibly Luma, and possibly Plessie. Who the fuck else can we get from the well that isn't plainly obvious? Pom Pom? Petey was in Sticker Star so he's not off limits.
