save before you go to the police station. stupidly difficult negotiation segment that will screw over most first time players.
>Explore a lot
>Get the armor piercing mod for the pistol
>AR and sniper are utterly useless
>Focus on stealth and hacking
>Get the Explosive rounds for the revolver
>EMP grenades kill every machine in one shot
>Hack everything you can
Get a revolver with the explosive rounds upgrade. It's compact and very useful for bosses. It was the only lethal weapon I had in my non-lethal run.
>Explore
>level stealth and hacking
>Look for vents and vent-like places
>non-lethal is objectively better than lethal
Oh yeah, and muddle through that god fucking awful terrible dogshit DLC that's forced upon you because what comes after is worth it.
But user, sneaking through the police station is one of the best experiences in all of vidya
Prod with the prod Adam
allow yourself to care about experiencing the world, a lot of the time the devs did put in the effort to flesh it out to reward you for paying attention
imagine buying a AAA game and asking for tips, come on user the game was made so that literal mouth breathers could enjoy it
it's a fun open world do your own thing game, not a fucking NASA launch
Hacking
Hacking
Hacking
Don't kill anyone, it's more rewarding that way
You'd better save Malik
This, you should stealth through first and then get access through dialog for maximum fun and xp.
no prods in HR dummi
You can push the FOV past what the menu allows
You can carry turrents
Sarif is some good VA that you don't get in the sequel so enjoy it while you can
Just tell the beta pig he was right to kill that kid and he lets you through
Or just get the CASIE aug, you'll need it later anyways
And get the Invisibility aug if you want to cheese the entire game
Keep the rocket launcher, laser gun and/or Typhoon for bosses
Talk to all of the hookers and give them sniffs
Explore and enjoy the immersive world building.

hacking gets you XP for successful hacks, XP for getting into areas, and upgrades and numerous other cool items that you'll never use because sneaking is the most efficient way to play the game
nonlethal takedowns followed by a silenced shot to the skull is the best way to play for maximum XP while still not coddling all the MASS MURDERING PSYCHOPATHS the game wants you to nonlethal
you can actually succeed at that interrogation any of the 3 ways you want, it's kind of random. It's funny succeeding the checks when you call him a piece of shit and don't apologize at all.
would
Focus on skills that let you get into places and explore more freely like hacking, jumping, lifting stuff, punching holes in walls, and not taking fall damage. Smart use of stealth, take downs, and the stun gun are my preferred method of dealing with non boss enemies. Invisibility is silly and broken when fully upgraded and I usually focus on that after the other stuff is fully upgraded.
You get xp for exploration so double back and check alternate routes to your objectives. Nonlethal takedowns are best just make sure you hide the knocked out bodies.
You NEED the aug that lets you not get electrocuted for the final level or you get soft locked
Its fucking stupid, I didnt have it and couldnt progress so I stopped. Ive been meaning to play though it again
>You NEED the aug that lets you not get electrocuted for the final level or you get soft locked
You do? I don't remember it that well but I think you can find another way or use boxes to walk on.
even if you go nonlethal, get a suppressed handgun to distract NPCs. very helpful for getting them to break their pathfinding and turn their backs to you for lining up easy takedowns/double takedowns
>get a suppressed handgun to distract NPCs
what, for like shooting shit over? didn't realize you could do that
just fire a suppressed shot into the floor and they'll turn to look at where the bullet hit, not where the shot came from (when the gun is suppressed). Doesn't affect any achievement progress so long as they don't see you shooting (lean out of cover and shoot).
Don't play the director's cut, just the base game.
The laser rifle shoots through walls and other hard obstacles. I'm not joking, major spoilers you can use it to cheese the last boss by shooting through the barriers and ignoring the shitty door opening shit
also save right after killing the last boss to reload and choose a different ending to see them all easily
>spoiler
Why even play the game at all? Fucking nu-gamers I swear.
Boss fights are dogshit because they force you to fight cartoonish and fairly strong villains in a game that encourages you to sneak around and talk to people.
>You NEED the aug that lets you not get electrocuted for the final level or you get soft locked
i stacked boxes, i think there's a vent somewhere too.
>Why even play the game at all
DXHR was good, and replayable, but also extremely aggravating with tons of bullshit thrown in. Like how the game doesn't warn you about killing enemies in the prologue cancels the progress made for an all-pacifist run, or how headshots made with the tranq darts against enemies without helmets kills them
It's retard proof, unlike the original. Just play it.
Never understood when exactly people make this types of "Tips for newbie?" posts.
Did you buy and download the game, then ask for advice?
It sounds like you've made up your mind to play it, but want people to hold your hand.
Just play the fuckin' game, guy. If you fuck up somewhere, you fucked up somewhere. It's okay, no one will know.
Except me
>killing enemies in the prologue cancels the progress made for an all-pacifist run
>Whoa I killed some enemies at the start of the game why didn't I get the achievement for not killing enemies?
Just get to like level 4 hacking and throw on the AP mod+suppressor for the pistol and you already won the game.
what are even the benefits of a pacifist run?
when i played i used only the handgun and killed people in self defense in le epic cop detective role play and it was cash
>this game is 9 years old
what the fuck bros...
Pacifist run is easy. The run where you're not to be detected via unconscious eneimes is fucking dumb as hell because it feels arbitrary as fuck. I've replayed dxhr 3 times, and I still couldn't do it because I don't know where I fucked up.
