I'm having a hard time getting through this game. It was punishing and difficult at first, but now I just roll every encounter with little to no effort and it's getting boring. I really want to finish it though since I'm already so far into it and would like a standard to hold the rest of the mainline games to.
I'm about to do the ring of gaea entrance test [/spoler] How much do I have left?
Yes, IV has a famously fucked difficulty curve. Once you reach Tokyo it's a cakewalk until the end, with maybe one or two bosses that might take more effort than that. It's just something you have to deal with. If you want a big challenge, you have to buy the extra boss DLCs, but I never liked them because they're really just autistic grind-gates where you need to max your level and fuse really specific demons to win.
Just finish it and play a better SMT game afterward, IV is just an easy place to start.
Brody Perez
Not op but Im lvl 10 in kichijorge village Is str good in this game
Daniel Collins
Honestly I love SMT games but they have ALL aged horribly and 5 really needs to change it up if it wants to not kill the franchise.
Sadly the fanbase is autistic and they fear change so unless its the same 20 year old formula they will hate it and act like its the persona fanbase that is killing the game.
Xavier Brooks
Play apocalypse
Nicholas Gutierrez
no. strength is only good for basic attacks, but has bad scaling with physical moves. build full dex instead.
Andrew Perez
No, unfortunately. The way it scales just doesn't work properly. IMO dex is OP and kinda braindead because you just spam gun skills, so I'd say go magic if you want a more balanced time. IIRC you get 5 stat points per level, so go 3 mag 1 vit 1 luck every level and you won't have problems.
Charles Torres
no str is useless, i am at shinjuku and have been doing dex + 3, +1agi +1luck and using gun skills and support buffs. str and physical attacks are useless on flynn, just go for gun support or magic.
Brayden Mitchell
should i play apocalypse, strange journey or devil survivor once i’m done with this game. I like demon fusing the most.
Christopher Brooks
OP here. Would also like an answer to this. Thinking on holding off on playing Apocalypse if the difficulty problem still exists.
Jonathan Powell
Nice copypasta, faggot. DEX is what you should really go for when it comes to IV.
Isaiah Hughes
Nice. K, which of these advances the plot? I've been running around Tokyo looking for i dont know hunter tourney ikebukuro free district sunset for a demonnapper Sonuvabitch, i gotta complete this game already
Austin Campbell
I personally really dislike Apocalypse. Some of the gameplay improvements are nice, but the writing is just awful and the final dungeon in particular is fucking terrible. Strange Journey and Devil Survivor are good alternatives.
John Kelly
is apocalypse a new game or is it like an add on like persona 4 golden?
Logan Gray
Huh, that wasn't a copypasta? Are you honestly saying the games haven't aged? I can't imagine someone thinking this unless they are coming from a 100% bad faith perspective.
Gavin Watson
Sequel, and play it.
Justin Hall
I would just play up to the alignment lock, choose white ending (skips the last third of the game) and move onto Apocalypse. The story's pretty predictable by that point anyway. Apocalypse has War mode you can pick from the start. This makes the difficulty curve MUCH better than IV's and I found it consistantly challening throughout. Apoc is a significant step up from IV and fixes almost all of the gameplay/mechanic gripes with IV that I had. SJ and DeSu are nice but have a similar falloff in difficulty after the beginning. Not as steep as in IV but it's there.
It's a sequel/interquel. New story, new characters, but same universe.
Hudson Hernandez
Here’s how to beat it. >sell your copy >buy a persona game
Jordan Russell
Be careful user, SMT has a lot of pretend fans on Zig Forums ever since 5 got announced.
Josiah Martinez
Livid.
Jordan Gutierrez
Wrong user, user. Also, could you answer the question? I've been at it too long and need this game finished so i can get on my new ones
Brody Butler
>Defends and accepts mediocrity little weird my dude
Matthew Butler
Tourney.
Andrew Clark
Lmao what is this meme narrative the nintendie smashniggers are pushing. Zig Forums had always had tons of SMTfags. I distinctively remember tons of smtiv posting and console war shit when it came out.
Oliver Bailey
But all the Persona games are shit except Apocalypse.
We had multiple threads a day for a few days even before the announcement Demifiend is a Zig Forums icon going back a decade to inter-board powerlevel fights aganist the Flash and Popeye
Grayson Flores
Its a good game but I think I only had trouble with four bosses, minotaur medusa tenkai and Kenji
Owen Martin
thurnx
Jayden Evans
You think this because you are one. Just because you see a niche thread every now and then about your niche game doesn't mean anyone gives a shit about it. Nobody outside of invested video game circles knows wtf SMT even is.
Caleb Baker
This dude speaks the truth. Though the 3DS versions of both DeSu games suffer less from the difficulty falloff because they got slight balance tweaks and extra content that ramps up the challenge nicely. Beating both games without doing one single free battle is a super nice feeling too and that stupid achievement is totally worthwhile just for the fun of it all. I think combat wise DeSu 2RB might just be my favorite megaten game of all time.
Adam Perry
is it just me or is this just an issue with most turn based games? after a frustratingly hard intro, the encounters just become easy as balls?
Juan Hernandez
Yeah, that's the issue with IV. They kept the usual SMT difficulty curve - where you get walled by the couple first dungeons, coast though mid game and ends with "stomp or be stomped" - but added many QoL improvements to the series that ended lowering the overall difficulty of the game. Especially with the introduction of Smirk, which makes the press turn swing even harder. IV:A adjusts things a little bit, making the overall game harder and smirk a little more balanced, but you'll just have to go through it in IV. Hopefully they adjust even more in V, so they can introduce more needed QoL changes without breaking the difficulty linked to the lack of these features.
I have this issue with SMT games in general specifically. It presents itself as very hard right at the start so I over prepare early on and then the rest of the game just becomes a joke.
Benjamin Davis
I would bet a large amount of money that V is going to be a very different type of SMT game compared to what we are used to.
Jeremiah Hill
NOOOOOOOOO
Grayson Perry
Just from a company perspective trying to make money. They will look at the lack luster sales of SMT and compare it to the booming sales of Persona and know they need to make a chance. What sort of change... who knows? SMT fans fear the worst (in their opinion) of it just becoming a Persona clone but for all anyone knows it could become something even better. Stagnation is boring. The old SMT games still exist.
