Now I play some matches from time to time in arcade modes and role-play a little in my head, like making my own anime with the action on-screen.

Why is Zig Forums so bad at fighting games?

Fighting games are really fun when you are just doing. Like, having muscle memory down and shit, and you are finally watching the animations instead of the abstract rationalization of doing correct inputs and such. But that means playing on a non-competitive level after hours and hours invested in making the game second nature.

Nothing wrong with high level play its only not fun when one side is a scrub and the other is a pro so it's a complete wash. There are few times when that's enjoyable and those are exceptions not the rule.

I personally feel the same. I just meant more watching than playing. I usually love playing people a lot better than me since I get a better sense of what I need to improve on and its even more satisfying if I squeak out a win against the odds.
