What is the ONE critical flaw with Resident Evil 4?

I don't think it has one. It's a very good game. Fun to play, very polished mechanics, lots of replayability. It's at times scary, atmospheric, goofy, campy, and charming.

I can only hope that the remake is as big of a game-changer as the original.

QTE
Mediocre soundtrack
Forgettable locations
Wasn't scary at all

It's kind of crazy isn't it? Especially when you look at the developmental history of this game and realize it could have been an absolute dumpster fire.

Without this, games like TLOU2 wouldn't exist.

The game gets very boring once you realize shooting enemies in the leg so they stagger and then going for a melee attack is way, way too effective.

Being able to pause at any point and switch weapons or heal. Trivializes some potentially tense moments assuming you're well-equipped.

Elaborate

The guns feel like shit to control, which wouldn't be a major issue if it was actually a survival horror game instead of an action game.

you're probably young if you don't know
re4 went through multiple versions for years, being chopped and changed repeatedly. Went back to the drawing board several times, then they scraped together a demo with the haunted house concept, then totally dropped that.
One of the prototypes eventually became devil may cry, which shows you how crazy they were getting with the designs.
After all this, going on for years, somehow they spawned the re4 we got.

Castle section is way too long

I honestly think it's really insulting to compare TLOU 2 to RE4. Yeah they are in the same genre but RE4 isn't some soulless game made to emotionally manipulate you to fuel the ego of a D list Hollowood washout. RE4 is something special, it came from a place of constant work and rework and by sheer refinement and effort it became a fun, campy game that is so well ingrained it's constantly being ported. TLOU 2 is such a flash in the pan game I doubt it'll be remade for Sony's next generations or be seen as dated, doomed to the same fate as Bioshock Infinite.

adaptive difficulty. literally getting punished for being good and rewarded for being bad.

The fucking military island robots section that everyone forgets aout

Ammo drops from enemies created a loop where they needed to continuously spam hordes of enemies at you.

saving britney.

Aww do you want to walk and shoot little baby?

Leon doesn't fuck Ashley
Also like the last hour and a half are terrible

dated clunky controls. They work with the game itself, and don't hamper the experience at all unlike the original 3's shit controls, but it's immediately noticeable that it is an ancient game.

No I think he is right. I Love RE5, not as much as RE4 but I still love it and one of the best thngs they did was assign weapons to the D pad. Now if only they could assign herbs to another button like in revelations then I think the game would be perfect.

What's with the RE4 shilling lately?

>surrounded
>pause, heal, equip shotgun
>shoot one shell
>pause, equip grenade
>throw one grenade
>pause, switch to tmp
>180 and shoot two kneecaps before running away
>pause, switch back to pistol

Your game is shit

1.) Not a horror game
2.) Irreparably ruined RE as a franchise , splitting the fanbase into survival horror fans and easy bady mode ADHD action fans

You should be doing mine thrower only runs at that point

Can't move while shooting. It's not really that it even affects the quality of the game, it's just that I'm so used to it these days that I have trouble playing without being able to move and shoot at the same time.

I knew that, DMC and hookman and whatnot. But you said it could have been a dumpster fire, and I thought maybe it had another rough part to its development that I didn't hear about.

This is the game’s biggest flaw. I love the game to death but real time healing, weapon switching, and reloading werehuge steps up in RE5. Annoying that later entries got rid of the real time healing.

That being said RE4 is absolutely amazing. Still one of the best in its genre all these years later.

The levels largely serve the gameplay but nothing more. Which can be fine but it makes the world uninteresting to explore.

1) define survival horror, why RE must be survival horror to be quality. 2) define why the franchise is ruined when it continues to be a commercial, critical, and fan success

I think it goes on just a bit too long personally, generally just the last hour I play just to finish the cunt. It loses the spooky atmosphere near the end as well, but at least the environments are kept interesting.

The Wii version changes that with a much better aim system but still have the original of you plug a Gamecube controller or a pro controller
The only flaw I can it's the voice acting, is way too repetitive that makes some characters really annoying and one little mistake: the game takes place on Spain but all the locals have latin accents, whoops

counter example
re2make did extremely well and stayed more survival horror focus as opposed to re3make which did terrible and more action oriented
