Open world

Where were you when Elden Ring saved open world gaming with trur exploration and zero hand-holding?

It needs to respect its future players and add those options and easy mode.

I don't play games with female protagonists

Cool, now the UI can be as barren as Miyazaki's games. Next time he'll announce that his games take a minimalist approach to animation.

I'm fine with no quest log or quest marker, but why would it be a good thing for them to have no map

It also needs automatically regenerating health and to remove the stamina bar.

My plan for an open world game is that you have to buy actual physical maps, but if you go to bad cartographer the map might be wrong

OOOOOOO VAPORWARE

Open world games just mean barren, unplanned and lifeless 99% of the time.

Having a map be flat out wrong might be a little harsh, but maybe somewhat inaccurate and incomplete would be interesting

fag

>Dark Souls game is a Dark Souls game but its not called Dark Souls
Whoa....so innovative...gaming has been saved...

>Open world
>No map
>No quest log
>No quest marker

So, like...every other Soulsborne game?

Maps, no matter how vague, let the player know what to expect to a certain degree. Exploration in its rawest form is being dropped in with guide, no map, nothing. 100% exploring the unknown with no heads up.

I'm entirely confident ER will take this approach.

In fact open world is one of the reasons I'm not going to bother with that game. The other two being
>Main selling point is being written by Game of Thrones man
>Horse

I hate open world games.

Im anticipating it but why just why le epic norse mythology setting. I can forgive nu god of war since that was in development a few years before the gay viking tv show and all the LARPagan bandwaggoning. But it seems now everyone from Miyazaki to Ubisoft to their mother is producing something in shitty viking world. How do you go from interesting settings like Victorian England and Feudal Japan to something as overdone and overrated as norse mythology. I really hope theres more to it than that.

I wish games let you draw your map or buy one drawn by other players or npc and fill them in yourself when you find neat things they missed

His game has been in development since they finished the dark souls 3 dlc

I just hope all my questlines wont cancel because I didnt bother talking to the girl and taking the ring to the onion man and going back to kill the other dude to pick up his ashes to give to the onion man so he can go back to hq and give me the mysterious object which lets me transform into something seemingly useless that I can use 10 hours later against some random boss that was actually the little girl who since then died from the pig that I already killed 5 times.

Elden Ring isn't real.

>open world
i really hope he means big sandbox

And that gay tv show sparked the norse pagan renaissance in 2013. Its just so uninspiring and boring culture that doesn't deserve half the recognition it gets. There's some actual cultures that barely get represented EVER because of bullshit politics despite being 10 times deeper.
>Pre colombian American civilizations and nomadic tribes
>medieval Byzantine civilizations
>Ancient and Medieval Persian civilizations
>Indian civilizations
>Central Asian nomadic tribes
Just pick something remotely interesting like with Sekiro and Bloodborne and not some glorified bog dwellers with mash for brains

Go to a reputable cartographer then, not a back alley one that’s selling it for a single copper piece.
Here you go try and find your way around with this

NO TOWNS
pcgamer.com/elden-rings-open-world-will-not-have-towns-will-be-traversable-on-horseback/#:~:text=Elden Ring, the forthcoming fantasy,to game director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

"Creating a new type of game is a big challenge for us," Miyazaki told IGN. "If we would add towns on top of that, it would become a bit too much, so we decided to create an open world style game focused on what we are best at.”

So rather than bustling settlements the likes of which usually feature in open world games, From Software's take will likely settle for ruins instead, according to the article. The open world will be traversable via horseback, and while the gameplay is "heavily based on Dark Souls", according to Miyazaki, the world design will throw a spanner in the works.

Sounds like complete shit. What the fuck do you do in this "game"?

That map is giving a lot of information no matter how shittily it's drawn. The landmass, the rivers would be enough to let people know generally where they are, relative to the destination.

Souls have never done maps and I'm confident they won't start now.

Open world games are not a problem, its just shit devs who make it soulless with nothing to do that is the problem.

>No map
It would be better with a map that you need to explore to reveal, perhaps even collect pieces of it, and have no moving marker.

low quality bait

So what dude its a soulsgame play gta if you want to interact with 10000000 npcs in LA. He already confirmed layered castles would be a part of the level design like every other soulsgame.

Dude that's england lol

Nah, open world is a flawed concept by itself.
There is simply no way to make a good open world game.

I still can't see any difference with any other Soulsborniro games.

Do you think they will even bother with graphics for this one? Since the jump to open world is so different...
It would be nice to actually have a visually stunning soulsgame beyond the artstyle, especially as its open world.

>Victorian England and Feudal Japan
>not overdone

>let the player know what to expect to a certain degree
and why can't the map fill in as you go like many games that already exist?

Based and civilization-pilled. We need more games with based on Byzantine and Aztec culture.

just sounds like dark souls but you ride a horse between levels.

they are interesting, unlike gay vikings. He described them as interesting not under-utilized. bikings are both overdone and uninteresting. personally, I want GoW to move onto Egypt after the next game.
