James' focus isn't solely sexuality. He rejects Maria on the basis of her being a solely sexual entity, and has multiple vestiges of his personality represented by monsters beyond just the Nurse and leg creatures. James IS sexually repressed but that's not the extent of his character.
His sexual frustration was just one aspect of it. The hallway scene made it pretty clear he was put under immense pressure, being torn back and forth by Mary, and the entirety of the game deals with his regrets of what he did. Saying "lol it's just cuz he got no pussy" is reductive.

A theory I particularly like is the Freudian interpretation, which is heavily sexual but also deals with the Id, Ego, and Superego (where Pyramid Head is the Id, James the Ego, the player the Superego and all the women represent aspects of the anima). But there are alternative theories that all have some merit - the Jungian or Csmpbellian theory that going to Silent Hill represents the Hero's Journey, the idea that James is a crazed misogynistic murderer, the Alchemy theory, the idea that the Cult orchestrated the whole thing, etc. That's why people love analyzing the series, not because there's one hidden 'deep' answer but because the games support multiple conflicting ones.

There's a good video on the basic Feudian theory on youtube by Max Derrat, but essentially Pyramid Head represents James' repressed basic need to be dominant and control the world around him which he lost touch with due to his wife's protracted illness. When he kills her and then represses the experience, Pyramid Head becomes the manifestation of that control - rape, violence, self-harm, but also ultimate control of his surroundings and self when he re-embraces it (there's some obvious Jungian parallels to the Shadow as well). James is the Ego, he just does what he's supposed to do. He's rather listless and directionless for most of the game following the trauma of killing his own wife, but he does hold a moral compass. The player directing James is the Super Ego, the outside construct directing James' behavior without his cognition of it. The women (Maria, Marie and the little girl whose name I forget) represent the Anima, a concept of femininity inherent in all men. They're different versions of how James sees women.
