Chief and Arbiter were never really friends
Chief and Arbiter were never really friends
No, but they were bros.
Also if you die in halo 3 when the arbiter's around, he sometimes says something along the lines of "if times were different, I would have called you my friend"
They were total bros.
Then how did they share the same xbawks
dunno if this counts but Arby seems to think he was a friend
>Jameson Locke: "Your people used to call him "Demon." Was that an insult or a compliment?"
>Thel 'Vadam: "An insult, to be sure, but one with a modicum of respect. He was indeed my enemy, but, in time, I named him ally... even friend. The events which forged this bond are… complicated."
I don't think Chief says a single word to the Arbiter throughout the entirety of Halo 3's campaign.
Well, Arbiter did glass and kill a shit ton of humans and Chief annihilated plenty of elites.
>Chief nearly kills Arby during the intro
>Only partner up because they share the same goal
>Fight together a handful of times throughout the game
>Chief "dies" and Arby goes home
Realistically they have no reason to be "friends" apart from having a mutual respect for each other.
Canonically though, I think it follows the common narrative trope where any characters who fight the same enemy together at some point are friends or allies for life.
That’s 343i’s bullshit
I think he had one singular line towards Arby when they were being held up by the gravemind in 2
"Fate had us meet as foes, but this Ring will make us brothers".
>What is it? More Brutes?
>Worse.
Don't know if this was just 343 retconning, but I've heard the events of Halo 3 are supposed to take place over several months.
Arbiter talks at Chief at least
>See how they treat their prey
unless you're playing co-op Arbiter comes to help Chief in High Charity all alone, Cortana even remarking only someone crazy would go there. Definitely seemed like a good friend.
I like the little nod at the end of the warthog run
Doesn't he say
>See how they bait their trap?
I remember when they played brawl
based
>retardo nigger cant into battlefield bonds
lmao
>>Only partner up because they share the same goal
>>Fight together a handful of times throughout the game
You spill sweat or blood with people you tend to form bonds. It's not that complicated for people who aren't autistic.
Thel led the destruction of John's surrogate homeworld and caused the deaths of nearly all his comrades. Of course they're not friends.
Maybe in a different part? I'm pretty sure he says the thing about their prey while it shows Johnson getting punched by a Chieftain
why did he even ask that when he clearly knows what the flood are
No, he says "See how they bait their trap?" During that. It doesn't make any sense to me, what exactly is baiting the trap when hes just punching a dude he already captured
No, he says "bait their trap"
Oh, guess I'm just retarded, always thought he said that
>Sorry about that time i glassed Reach, bro
That's not something that would get changed on difficulty... You do play on the harder difficulties, right user?
Yeah, I used to be an achievement fiend, but I guess I just always misheard it
>tiem 2 die bitch3z
>what exactly is baiting the trap when hes just punching a dude he already captured
Johnson is the bait. The brute doesn't really punch him. Looks more like he shoves him toward the cage. Johsnon punches the brute in response, so the brute knees him.
you could explain it away maybe as the arbiter wanting to make sure the mission is accomplished. but yeah, seeing arby roasting the flood at the end of that shit level always makes me feel warm and fuzzy
But that means that they are currently not friends.
