Was Legion well liked? I've only played through some quest lines and went through a few areas and dungeons and it seems "full" in terms of content. Like they wanted to make something good. Felt satisfying to see so much stuff about the bad guys who started pretty much every main bad thing in Warcraft.

I thought it had some interesting ideas but was worse than Warlords, which had some interesting ideas but was worse than Pandaria, and on and on. It was the expansion that made me fully and completely accept that the game was never going to recover from it's identity crisis. Didn't bother with BFA, won't bother with Shadowlands.
The only thing that made the game playable for more than couple of months for me is the addition of m+ dungeons. Other than that it was the same shit they made since years
My experience discussing WoW with my mates now always boils down missing Legion and how shit BFA was. I think it is fairly well liked and it's the first expansion I seriously enjoyed since BC/Wrath days.
legion was good, only thing that sucked was legendary acquisition.
>tfw completing 36/36 mage tower challenges
best expac

If I wanted to get into WoW how much would it cost? Is there a definitive edition that includes all the expansions? I heard it was subscription and online only.
Damn maybe I missed out then. The artifact power shit really turned me off. I was already sour on how increasingly the game relied on gated content because I have days where I can't play at all and days where I can play all day, so running into the gate either way was fucking dumb.
the base game includes every expac up to but not including the current one which is battle for azeroth. you can try the game for free, then you can buy the base game and upgrade later since it will take you a while to hit max level. also when the next expac launches, bfa will be rolled into the base game at no cost so it may be worth it to not buy bfa at this poibt
Legion was liked a lot more at first just for NOT being the previous expansion. It was fun running your first character through the story zones, but weirdly enough with all the focus on giving unique content for each class, with the class halls and artifacts and stories, it was painful leveling multiple alts from a mechanical perspective. Promising beginning, then it kind of petered out as the momentum burned out pretty quick.
This is just my experience, though. I couldn't raid very seriously due to shitty internet and a shittier computer back then, so this is just the perspective of an LFR, alt addict, pet/mount/achievement collector.
Legion was pretty good as a casual, but it's an expansion that got a little inflated with patches. Plus the raids were a bit samey, kind of had the same issue ICC had where everything looks the same in them. No Kara/Ulduar/ToT or even SoO level of quality here.
Still, worse then MoP, better then WoD and BFA.
In all honesty though, BFA is hilarious at the minute. Corruption is the most retarded thing Blizzard could have added, and it's funny to just see how stupid it gets. Out DPSing rogues as a DK tank because I'm procing laser beams that do more dps then them is a stupid sight to have.
>"Legion was great, didn't you all love my class design and losing all your abilities?"
This. It forced you to do too many quests, and different grinds. Same with BFA.
Legion also had the dumbest system in place for it's ledgendaries.. You were soft capped at 2 per character for a year. So if you got a bad one or two bad ones, you were better off deleting your character and trying again. I don't understand how they fucked up that badly.
Artifact grind and random legendaries were my two biggest grievances with the expansion, with the rest largely being scattered issues with story and narrative. Oh, and timegating is shit. Still, it was an expansion I enjoyed playing enough that I bought into BFA thinking the Legion trends I enjoyed would continue.
It did but in the worst ways.
The Mage Tower challenges were probably the most fun I had since I started playing casually from WoD onwards. World PvP was also fun at launch.
Legion and BFA have gone through similar life cycles.
>add an indefinite grind
>add lottery-tier odds to the best gear
>this gear has a massive power level tied to it and far outshines player skill
>players hate it
>dial it back
>players come back
>add another layer of RNG to limit character progression
>players get tired of blizzards bullshit and leave
>they fix the shitty systems designed to hook addicts one major patch before the next expansion
It's one big hamster wheel centered on the same principles as gambling.
Isn't this dude a community manager?
>same shit every expansion = bad
>running the same garbage dungeons over and over = good
what did xhe mean by this
without m+ you still have to run the dungeons over and over, at least now they remain challenging and the affixes keep them from getting too stale. m+ is great. mdi is cancer
Remove gear from m+ and see how many people care about that shit
whats your point? you could say that about raiding as well.
>remove rewards from activity and people stop doing it
yet shitting me
>Legion also had the dumbest system in place for it's ledgendaries.. You were soft capped at 2 per character for a year. So if you got a bad one or two bad ones, you were better off deleting your character and trying again. I don't understand how they fucked up that badly.
Holy shit that's awful. They literally could have salvaged that if they let you forsake a legendary to allow yourself the chance at another drop
Weird how people still did challenge mode even after getting the sets
he's lying there was never a cap on how many leggos you could get, it's a shitpost.
whats funny is at the very end of the expansion, they pulled their heads out of their ass and allowed you to buy specific legendaries. by then, it was so late in the expansion that it didnt really matter though. should have been there from the start.
I think he meant slighty harder dungeons caused him to press his buttons more instead of afking and that was somehow fun.
Yeah people only hated the legendary rng bullshit at thr start of the expansion but as it went on everyone got their legos. Also the aetifact knowledge thing was pure cancer
>whats funny is at the very end of the expansion, they pulled their heads out of their ass and allowed you to buy specific legendaries
Now replace "specific legendaries" with corruptions and you realize they do this shit on purpose.
then go play classic.
Shit i miss this
not sure what corruptions are as i am no longer playing, but i wouldnt be surprised if it was on purpose. anything to keep people hooked.
only because of theme
mechanics were extension of shit wod direction
>my demonology warlock loses his metamorphosis for a new class that'll be $60 pls
nah
Kil'Jaeden was aneurysm kino
He's not wrong. There was a "bad luck protection" built into the legendary system and they "accidentally" reversed the equation so your odds of obtaining them decreased over time and increased for the people who already had them.
Only that corruptions are on a rotation and you can't buy them all the time.
>Muh low poly shit texture totally not illidan model was so cool!
Nah
I played the whole expansion and don't remember this being a thing, was it quickly fixed?
They waited about 3 months to fix it if I remember correctly.
>tfw pugging antoran high command
what saddens me, is DK degradation over the years
during mid wotlk it was most complicated and cool PVE class
now it's discount paladin who is discount warrior
Please don't point out the very easy to spot carrot-on-a-stick tactics to wow players. They are simple people and might hurt themselves in their confusion.
>then go play classic.
The problem with Classic is that it's a bunch of toxic faggots who min/max the whole experience, it's a literal race because the whole game is a known quantity already and everybody has already been there done that so there's not point in stopping to smell the roses.
The one and only reason I really wanted to play Classic anyway was classic AV with day-long battles, gathering blood and armor scraps and summoning the gods to fight on the lake. Couldn't even fucking give me that.
Yes, they did the same thing with legion legendary currency by tying the most lucrative sources to the daily emissary caches
Yeah they pointless grinds locking out your order hall stories were stupid.
Once you had capped and completed one it should have just let you level via doing the Order Campaign for the other classes.
Hey retard i'm talking function. Train conductor of swarms of demons is for fucking pansies. I wanted to embody the fel power and be fucking tanky spellcaster on top of pet support.
this is why nobody likes you warlocks
DKs were the most ambitious class design thanks to ghostcrawler. That guy fucked off when he saw in which direction the game was being steered.
Sometimes i wonder if DHs would have a 3rd spec and be a lot more complex if that guy was still at blizzard.
Even if classic was a new game, everyone would min max anyway. Why spend hours farming and wondering around aimlessly when you can just alt + tab and look it up on google or youtube?
Corruptions were their replacement for titanforging. So instead of getting an extra 10 ilvls on a piece of gear you would get a random stat that could range from getting an extra 2% avoidance to doing 20% more damage from a random aoe proc. There are about 6 good ones and 30 shit ones. Someone that got lucky could do twice the damage of someone that was unlucky and people were wearing ilvl 385 gear over their 470 pieces because the 385 gear could have a god tier corruption that outclasses 3 raid tiers of ilvl increases. Corruptions eventually reached the point where you could get so much versatility that getting stunned in pvp gave you 100% damage reduction.
cuz I don't put up with your shit.
Best expansion after WotLK imo.
if you want to embody fel power, play destuction with green fire, dumbass.
Dual specced Destro/Demo since wrtah what up son
instead of bringing other classes to DK level they nerfed it in ICC patch
No he was a class designer but now he works on hearthstone
I appreciated the BC-throwback aesthetic and plotlines but I hate timegating
I wonder if he despises his job
I don't remember what was nerfed when but i know that the original design employed 3 different types of runes and runic power, while the current design is nothing like that. Also DKs could tank or dps in any spec, but now you have designated roles for all of them.
It was such a downgrade from what the class could have been. They called it a "hero class" back then, but over time it just degenerated into just another class.
The only people who hate Legion are the shitters that couldn't get every mage tower weapon
Why are fucking DH still in the game? Just fucking delete them already holy shit. Who thought it's a good idea to make a class with such absurd mobility? While you're at it remove roll or chi torpedo from monks. Retarded hacks from Blizzard don't understand how World PvP should work.
what one did you find the hardest? it was either holy priest or prot warrior for me.
that's exactly what happened, they restricted specs to nothing like before
I tanked in 2H frost, it was the most fun I had in wow.
wrath > legion > tbc > mop > vanilla > cata > bfa > wod
If you disagree you're a pissbrain and probably collect pets/do lfr for fun or you're a classic clown, either way your opinion is irrelevant
