My biggest gripe currently is that graphic's wise it looks kind of messy. I hope they clean it up and/or port it to a console that can upscale the game.

It reminds me of the NiGHTS style, which I guess you could consider messy. But it's kinda proudly bright and cheerful. It doesn't look like a next gen masterpiece, but I'm fine with that if it plays well. Hopefully it does 60fps on switch.

The style looks great don't get me wrong, I love it, it's just the actual graphical way it presents itself. I don't know if I was watching the video in low quality or something.

Yeah, I guess I'll just wait and see how it is when it's out. it's a strange project. Ohshima and Naka haven't made anything of note is fucking ages. And now they are working with Square Enix staffers to develop this game. There's a lot of different influences in the pot. Hope it turns out good. I'll keep an open mind.

Doesn't that homing attack look really unpolished, like with no collision effects or bounce animation to make the action look smoother?
It's unfortunate, the voice clips and sound effects are really reminiscent of early SEGA games like Billy Hatcher. And the music and world designs are wonderful and magical.
But. at the same time, there's like this modern Yooka Laylee type of crappy graphical quality going on that competes with that early magical SEGA impression.

Also, am I missing something, why is there a sheriff Woody in the game??
I'd understand if it's supposed to be a generic cowboy archetype with the top hat, brown hair, blue bottom, but still.
The dude looks so plastic, the joints look like almost doll joints; this part in the trailer gave me a real Kingdom Hearts vibe like I was watching Woody get possessed by darkness or something.

I think you're reading into that one homing attack quite a bit. I expect this to feel like Mario Odyssey where mario has endless powers he can get by attaching cappy to other characters. But all those powers feel very simple to play and not super fleshed out.

I agree, I tend to think both the Balan Wonderworld guy (who btw reminds me of the hat guy from I think Mario Party 5) and Nights are guys.
Nights though I can kinda see being confusing cause sometimes the art has these big eyes, long eyelashes, soft feminine features, but still.
The Balan guy just looks like some hipster long haired Cali stage magician you'd see in an internet show or something.
