In the context of the original game, Tidis is a theoretical person created by life continuing in Zanarkand past the point of its demise.

In the context of X-2 he's based on Shuyin.

in original FFX, tidus was a "what if" character that potentially could've/would've existed (unclear) if Zanarkand wasn't destroyed. The game doesn't explicitly say whether the dream Zanarkand is exactly how it would've played out in reality without Sin, or if it's just one of many possibilities. Shuyin in X-2 is a retcon.

Considering their co-dependent romance both of them probably had shit childhoods and no good role-models on how to raise a child. Hell his mom was probably 17-18 when Jecht knocked her up. She also was probably some groupie that got knocked up and pre-alcoholism Jecht married and actually fell in love with her. That being said Auron was a 10/10 dad to be able to turn around 8-10 years of abusive and neglectful parenting to turn Tidus into a cheerful well adjusted sports star instead of a lunatic that burns through his sighing contract money on strippers and chop, before going to jail for punching said strippers.

I kinda hate that Jecht gets completely forgiven even though he was an abusive ass while Auron who actually raised him gets little to no props. it sucks that the FF10 well is so poisoned from ten 2.5 that we'll never get a SoL about Auron raising Tidus

I played this game recently and I was very disappointed when Tidus tells Jecht he hates him at the end, despite having realised several times over that he doesn't hate him. Did I miss something? Was Tidus just coping because he has to kill him?
