What are your wishes and expectations for this game? Will it be woke shit?

I hope they won't aim too high and that it's not TES style open world. There's a reason nobody but Bethesda has touched that genre for a long time. I'm hoping for a spiritual successor to Dark Messiah.

>CGI shit
After sinking time in outer worlds, this is going to be dog shit

What the fuck does Avo Wed mean? Is this some old English word?

Notice the anti-aliasing on the sword at the end of the clip

What could possibly make you think it's going to be dog shit?

Post (1/X)

The trailer had these words:

"We have always known war, it forged our Empire. Turned heroes into queens and kings, and decimated our foes. Now our oaths are lost, forsaken and you must face the monsters our sins have borne. Is an oath worth the weight of a crown?"

We see castle wall in the trailer. There are flags which have the symbol of Woedica.

Woedica is:

is a deity known by many names, including "The Exiled Queen," "The Burned Queen," "Oathbinder," and "The Strangler." Her domains include law, justice, oaths and promises, (rightful) rulership, hierarchies, memory, and vengeance.

pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Woedica

The trailer talks a lot about oaths and hierarchy (Empire, queens, kings..") so this also tells that Woedica once again plays a big story in the game.

The flags could be a flag of a faction called Steel Garrote. Steel Garrote is:

" is a feared paladin order dedicated to Woedica. They work with powerful individuals and business interest to hunt down those who violate contracts, especially if said contracts were endorsed by a priestess of the Exiled Queen. They were founded in the Aedyr Empire, and are active throughout it, they also operate in its former colonies and the Vailian Republics."

pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/The_Steel_Garrote

So Steel Garrote worships Woedica and is active in the Aedyr EMPIRE. Other faction that we know worships Woedica is the Leaden Key, but their symbol is a key and they are a secretive organisation

Post (2/X)

Keep in mind the trailer talked about "our empire", so this means some empire in the Eora lore. Currently the only active empire is the Aedyr Empire.

Some facts about Aedyr Empire:

The Aedyr Empire is currently the largest and most powerful force in this part of the world. It is centered around the Equator and has a tropical climate. Though the empire has colonies in numerous areas of the world, Greater Aedyr is at its heart and houses the majority of its human and elven nations.

In the trailer we see a tropical setting at one points (when we see a big statue of a man and a dog/wolf, maybe Galawain [God of Hunting etc.]?)

The Aedyr Empire is a hereditary monarchy ruling by the divine sanction of Woedica. The ruling couple is based a haemneg of a reigning human emperor (technically the ferscönyng/first king) and the elven queen (mecwyn, short for héamecwyn/illustrious queen), their concubinage represents the union between folk and elves.

Woedica plays a key role in The Aedyr Empire.

Also the Empire always has a human KING and an elven QUEEN, hence the "queens and kings" which were mentioned in the trailer.

The Aedyr Empire maintains a feudal social structure, allow slavery in most areas, and believes in/enforces a divine right monarchy (through Woedica)

Again, Woedica is really important to Aedyrians

The trailer also talks about Oaths a lot which we already know have a lot to do with Woedica.

how many games before they're shitcanned by M$?

Post (3/X)

We know from earlier game PoE2 that worshippers of Woedica hunt down oathbreakers. There is a quest called "Lost Dues in Good Faith" where Oswald is put to trial by Steel Garrote for breaking a very old oath. Basically Oswald swore oath to Aedyr Empire but later fought against it in a rebelling colony.

pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Lost_Dues_in_Good_Faith

So we know Aedyrs are big on Woedica and Oaths

From the trailer

Now our oaths are lost, forsaken and you must face the monsters our sins have borne.

This could be a reference to either

- PoE2 ending where the Wheel is broken which basically makes gods much less powerful as they where siphoning energy from the reincarnation cycle. This means Woedica would be powerless or lost and thus "Oaths are lost" and we must face the monsters our sins have borne. Perhaps this means that in the absence of gods some monsters will be unleashed on the world and the sins refer to everything that lead to the destruction of the wheel.

- Or some other unknown event after year 2398 Al. Previously I thought this might have something to do with event described in book "Animancy in the Modern Age"
but then I read more about the Aedyr Empire from the book The Aedyr Empite, Part 1: Origins
which tells that us Aedyr Kingdom did not become en Empire before yeat 2398 which means it doesn't deal with the outlawing of animancy in year 2260.

Is an oath worth the weight of a crown?"

This could be referring either to the crown of kings and queens of Aedyr or the broken crown of Woedica. Is it worth it to be in Woedica's favor if the oaths you swore are too heavy?

This game could be the aftermath of the breaking of the wheel where the people of Eora are trying to find themselves without the god' help.

Multicultural cities where this isn't brought up. Gays and trannies in medieval setting where disease still exists. Other than that it might be good.

Post (4/4)

This is what I have so far been able to deduct from the trailer.

TL;DR

- Setting is in the continent which is ruled by The Aedyr Empire

- Time is either after PoE2 or after year 2398 (time when Aedyr Kingdom became Aedyr Empire)

- It is uncertain if you are a watcher, could very well be

As much as I love to see fellow lorechads at work, why have you invested your time in the world of Eora? Nothing about it seems interesting to me. Genuinely curious.

Avowed is an actual word like:

"Trump is an avowed racist!"

Synonyms for avowed:

professed
accepted
acknowledged
admitted
affirmed
avowedly

Wael niggas where we at?

Did you play PoE1 and 2 through? I did and I found the world very interesting t. lorechad

Same. I want the game to have excellent and satisfying melee combat like Dark Messiah. Arkane Studios is stuck making Dishonored and a Dishonored clone now. Obsidian isn't the best when it comes to melee combat but the job listings for this game had "heavy emphasis on melee combat" and other things that made it sound like it really could be the real deal. I hope they won't fuck it up with woke shit, the "Queens and Kings" part sounded odd but I'll let that slide. Outer Worlds had some ugly niggers and I want them to improve their character models as well for this one

Isn't it an old setting? which would put a cap on how woke they can make it hopefully
Anyway as long as wokeness is kept to a minimum and the spells are interesting it should be an alright game

How war turned heroes into queens and kings is a reference to how Aedyr Empire was formed.

Will avowed have dyed haired dykes too?

>I'm hoping for a spiritual successor to Dark Messiah.
Although far more fast paced

>Finally someone tries to challenge TES. And of course it's Obsidian too. High hopes for this one.
Literally every Ubisoft game is the same shit as TES

I played PoE1 for about 10h before just stopping since the gameplay wasn't exactly enjoyable, characters were eh and the world wasn't very intriguing either. The whole spirit world stuff (can't remember what It was really called) annoyed me as well, don't really remember why.
Should I have kept playing? Does it get better and more interesting?

pretty sure the setting is like from 2014 at the earliest.

Not ideal but I can hold out hope

I expect it to be another half-assed AA that sacrifices soul for mild polish like their previous 3D game.

Attached: yes.jpg (647x659, 40.42K)

What's the setting like? Is it something akin to Dark Souls i.e a hopeless and miserable world or something more lighthearted like The Elder Scrolls games? I like fighting through hordes of fodder but I like having a comfy town to rest at as well

Apart a fewer and fewer games (as the years pass by) all will be woke shit or pandering "extra"
also dlc.microtransactions, pay to win;pay2play it will get worse and worse.
no amount of tech will change anything at all so play will you can but dont expect anything now taht the g"ood guys" have won.

>Queens and Kings
The game will most likely be set in Aedyr, based on the writing on the sword, which spells Oathbinder (Woedica's title) in Aedyran. Aedyr is an union between humans and elves and this is reflected in the Empire being ruled by a human king and an elf queen, so that's most likely what the trailer is referring to. Woedica is also the prime god of Aedyr and those standards on the walls had her symbol on them.

They tried and failed to kill kill, now they are going to try and fail to kill The Elder Scrolls.

Holy shit, thank you my man. I've really been craving for something like DM.

>They tried and failed to kill kill
Skaven pls leave

To have third person view and the game to be highly moddable. TES games are popular because they are highly moddable, this increases the lifespan of the game. Just look at Skyrim, almost a decade later and mods are still being made for it and people are still playing.

They have said its going to be AAA title (Microsoft money)

PoE has both long and short hairs. Generally accepted reason for short hairs in Outer Worlds is that they had a budget and long hair is harder to do (clipping)

It is more darker side of fantasy than elder scrolls

slowpoke
see

I meant kill Fallout. wtf

Don't get your hopes up too much, it's fun but it's not on the same level of quality as Dark Messiah

Alright. Then I have nothing to worry about (I hope)

it'll be shit, woke or not, I bet.

you have to be insane to expect anything less than shit from current year Obsidian.

You probably arent used to cRPGs and the game really does get better. It is very text heavy game which my frustrate some people but if you just switch your attitude and embrace all the lore thrown at you, youll be fine. Keep playing.

Damn, I got outlore'd hard. Didn't even notice.

QUEEEEENNSSS
and kings

Not him but I liked Divine Divinity and Neverwinter Nights (not much experience in cRPGs but some), and PoE was mind-numbingly boring
I also liked DAO if that counts

Outer Worlds was shit for trying to create Fallout in space which was a really uninteresting setting and the whole "Corporations bad and stupid" narrative was boring and the budget for the game was too small.

When switching over to Microsoft, Avowed was the game they pitched and now they have been developing it with Microsofts money.

Eora is much more interesting place than Outer Worlds

All i want from Obsidian a full blown AAA game. Good animations, good cut scenes, well voiced. The industry standard they haven't come close to since NWN2.

I am though, some of my favorite games are cRPGs. I also love text heavy games but only if what's told me is at least somewhat interesting, the stuff PoE threw at me made me want to just skip it all. The talk with the hanged granny(?) made me want to blow my brains out due to how long and boring the conversation was.

Matter of preference I suppose. I liked PoE's wibe. To each his own, perhaps 1st person RPG suits this universe better

>Wishes
Steam/Epic DRM so I can pirate it easily. Someone mentioned soul absorption in another thread so I'd like to see some Soul Absorption magic included. The trailer could've been CGI but I got some really nice Arc Fatalis vibes from the spellcasting part, I hope it's fun. Also would like if they had more responsive AI i.e. the enemy actually knows I am hitting him with my sword unlike fucking Skyrim
>Expectations
Fat CEO guy said he wanted to make a game like Skyrim so I assume it'll have a big open world

(((people))) would be hyping the shit out of it if it was on ps5

>PoE has both long and short hairs. Generally accepted reason for short hairs in Outer Worlds is that they had a budget and long hair is harder to do (clipping)
Hmmmm, ill take your word for it but i wont have my hopes high like did for outer worlds. Tell me, why was outer worlds characters and story-writing terrible, after being hyped up as some kind of fallout 4 rival.

This is just going to be Battlemage clone desu.

Its not a very fast paced game that is true. For me conversation with the dwarf woman was interesting because she had a lot to tell about my "condition".
