it's the only fps game series which has both a fully fleshed out single player campaign with lots of lore and pretty good story telling considering it's an FPS, whilst also having a genre defining multiplayer experience. halo reach is considered one of the least good halo games (god knows why though) yet its campaign alone completely obliterates any other fps shooter campaign including all call of duty's and battlefield games. just an awesome series.

too bad it's been shit since halo 4 though. don't know if it's beyond the point of recovery desu.

Truth, ODST firefight is the fucking shit, it's leagues more depthful and fun than Reach's. Reach firefight was clearly put in as an afterthought, which honestly is fine because it clearly wasn't the focus of the game but I just want ODST on steam now damn it.

Masterchief has a bit more nuance than Doomguy or Samus but he's also blank enough to insert into. Actually if anything it might be comparable to Samus, but definitely more nuance than Doomguy.

Halo feels pretty distinctive among FPSs because it has slow movement and a long TTK, which results in a game where winning is more about good positioning than clicking heads or dodging rockets.

Heroic is a nice middle ground if you actually play FPS.
I say this because Legendary kind of destroys the weapons sandbox in most of the games, and Legendary can definitely get tedious at points in some of the campaigns.

No he's not. He's just a fucking robot, and the fact that he talks despite having nothing to say makes him infinitely more jarring.
The little nods and gestures Samus occasionally makes in most games give her way more humanity and personality, and whenever she talks (outside of Other M) she's perfectly adequate. Master Chief is basically the worst of both worlds, to the point where it would actually be much better if he was just a robot.
