IV is the best
EO for Switch when?
which one should i start with
Probably anything but 4 since the rest of the series will seem disappointing by comparison if you play it first.
Don't know if I should jump into Nexus. I have heard its at least 80Hrs and gets repetitive.
5 have great NPCs though and simplified things to how etrian odyssey was before 3.
every time i try to play one of these games i get really really into it but then drop it 75% of the way in
maybe one day ill finish one
When will atlus stop cumming with persona and focus on etrian for a bit?
the world map was annoying im honestly glad they got rid of it
I absolutely loved 4 but could not get into 5. It just didn’t click for some reason.
ded series
4 is garbage and only a babby whose first game was 4 would say this
Rank every EO game
This is me. I kept getting fucked by that dragon in the car dungeon. I’ve tried to come back up I’ve forgotten all the paths despite having a nice map made. Plus I literally couldn’t level up anymore unless I wanted to cheese it by having it run overnight.
WHERE IS IT
*ice dungeon in EO 5
5>3>EOU2>EOU1>4>1>2>shit>EMD
millennium girl
>EOU1>4
Ah, I see. You’re just being contrarian. Heh, good one.
le millennium girl
Not him but I don't see anything wrong with that, I liked them about the same honestly. 5 at the top is a little sketchy though, it felt very barebones to me although it was still a good game.
ricky is very sticky
Nope, being completely honest. 4 has the shitties, tiniest dungeons because of the overworld which really added nothing to the game except for the 3rd one that had multiple entrances but that got annoying fast. Also has shit for post game content. The only thing 4 has going for it is the OST which I will say is better than 5's in almost every category.
Play 3, then 4, then Untold 1 and 2, then 5, then skip Nexus because it's actually fucking garbage.
nexus is fun
hero-chan is cute
I honestly liked the mini dungeons, it let them explore gimmicks without it bogging down an entire floor of a labyrinth with some bullshit, like that one wind labyrinth in the 4th area.
...
Nexus is fine, I think people get too hung up on the shrines and Hero being OP as fuck.
Be honest. How many of you have done super bosses for the games you played?
I've played and dropped every EO game besides 4 due to not having time or other games catching my attention, and I finally beat 3 after playing it on and off for a few months, went through Cyclopean Haunt over a weekend and beat Abyssal God.
I've done them all except for 5's and Nexus. Fuck Nexus
I am playing nexuz. Running Hero Ronin Arcanist Prince and Gunner. Any tips?
i lower the difficulty to picnic
i beat all of them but the only ones i beat legit were warped savior and primevil, i used cheese strats for all the others
for ur-devil, untold 1 yggdrasil core, and the princess and true last boss in nexus, i just said fuck it and switched to picnic because i couldn't be bothered to fight them
I beat U1, 4 and 5’s superbosses
Problem is with 5 I didn’t realize I forgot to put the difficulty back to hard after grinding so I don’t think it really counts.
Fuck that boss though, when I decide to do him again I’ll do it but I hate him.
What cheese strat did you use for Abyssal God? I was having trouble beating it until I learned you can use Knighthood to bait out the counters but since it comes out faster he just wastes a turn using a counter instead of healing.
I want to play 3. What should I know beforehand?
I've done Warped Saviour and 2U Ur-Child. Yggdrasil Core always filters me because I'm not willing to grind U1 grimoires to twink my party out for it, and I don't like Star Devourer or Abyssal Princess (and by extension Uber Jormungandr) enough to give them proper attempts with specialty-made parties.
You will have to replay it twice if you want all the classes, 3 times if you want to 100% it.
I'm currently facing down the Star Devourer and I'm probably just going to say fuck it and change my pug to an Impact pug then do the one-punch pug kill so I can move on.
You might want to replay 4 and 5 because 5's OST is easily top 3 in the franchise next to 2 and 3.
>A game with literally no hard mode
>The best
>A game where the final boss can be soloed with 4 different classes
>The best
>A game where you can turn 2 kill the final boss and turn 1 kill all other bosses
>The best
Nah 4 was insultingly short with only 13 floors in the main storyline, most of which didn't even take up most of the map space. The music was nice, but the endgame was barren, the difficulty curve was- well to be honest the difficulty itself was basically nonexistent.
In my opinion 2 Untold or 3 are the best. I actually have a love for Nexus as well but I recognize its many faults. The biggest of which being a fucking dungeon game about exploration shouldn't be PREDICTABLE, but it somehow is.
If you are at all not a casual and intend on finding a good dungeon crawling experience then ignore the zoomers responding to you before me;
Go by release order. EO 1 and 2 are perfectly playable games without their remakes and gives you an appreciation for the quality of life changes once you finally get into the groove later in the series.
BUT if you want to be a dirty casual and just want to play one or two games just play 4, then 2 Untold, and then play Nexus. Those are basically all you need to get the full experience if you aren't intending on ACTUALLY playing all of the games.
Not him but I think it falls pretty flat compared to 4 and I just played 5 and was playing 4 only a couple weeks ago just to go back and finish some stuff in it before I start Nexus.
I really liked the Jagged Reach theme but 4's music overall is some of my favorite music across the entirety of RPGs in general, and 5 just doesn't hit that same level for me.
I'm replaying 4 since it was my first Etrian Odyssey, and to be honest I'm kinda baffled that I managed to beat this game. I'm in the 2nd stratum and it feels like everything is pushing my shit in. It probably gets way easier later, but still. I don't know why I'm having more trouble than I did with the other games.
The very start of the second land is the hardest part of the game. It smooths out as the stratum goes on, and then the power spike from subclassing trivialises the entire rest of the game
>A game where the final boss can be soloed with 4 different classes
>A game where you can turn 2 kill the final boss and turn 1 kill all other bosses
I mean you can do this for almost every EO boss except the very early ones where you don't have access to much skills usually.
Well none of the classes are "complete" until the middle of Stratum 3. But honestly once you have your choice of either Arcanist/Nightseeker symbiosis or Rune/Landshark symbiosis you can essentially trivialize all FOE encounters and bosses, then just blow away the fodder enemies with muti hitting attacks.
Only problem with SPECIFICALLY stratum 2 is how most of the later enemies can't be hit unless you bind legs. Luckily Wufan gives you a circle for that which I am UTTERLY CONVINCED has a built in 100% success chance against spooky ghosts.
>Primeval
>Ur Child
>Soloable
I give you the Abyssal God but that requires in depth knowledge of the game's inner workings. The Yggdrasil Eater is just straight up not a hard fight and can be brute forced even on the hardest difficulty. The only time you ever need to "big brain" is if you fight him with no chemical, and even then all you need to do is keep a dancer with all 3 dances up so you can force shield every 7 turns.
