No genre is a dead genre. Besides whatever the fuck TLoU2 was.

sure. they know they're niche, and as long as they keep working within those constraints they'll continue to survive just fine. if they try to make it big and sell a few million copies they won't last long

dungeon crawlers do pretty well in the niche weeb/jrpg fan circles
im playin mary skelter rn and its pretty good

only if there's a focus on resource management like the original dungeon crawlers

if people want grindblobbers, they play normal JPRGs

Yes, it's what contained in a game that makes it a dead game.

Otherwise fucking nerds wouldn't still be playing D&D and /tg exists. Fucking stupid question from a stupid cunt.

/tg/ hates d&d though

>labyrinth of refrain 2
>Jap only
>So-iny only
Its like they deliberately wanted the game to fail

The original was Sony too until NISA decided to do something based for once and ported it to PC and other systems. Also has it been confirmed to be Japanese only? Last I checked it was stuck in development hell when it was supposed to have released twice already.

i hope when they bring it over it does actually get a vita release. i pretty much gave away my ps4 because i didn't give a fuck about it, but i kept my vita for this basically

they gave a release date of november. so basically it's out of indefinately delayed and into probably coming out eventually

>Last I checked it was stuck in development hell
Wouldn't be surprised if it got Seven'ed for being too problematic

Any good dungeon crawlers? Not interested in EO.

Darkest Dungeon 2 seems highly anticipated, weeb ones like Mary Skelter Finale and Etrian Odyssey Next Stage will thrive in their niche fanbase.

Got leaked by Dengeki Online earlier, but now official. No overseas release planned, or a PC/Switch port, so far.

Grimoire has easily single-handedly saved the genre.

vitachads rise up

They're going to need a lot more production value if they want to.

dungeon crawlers were originally what all jrpgs were (as wizardry was a big deal in japan), but then after a while the genre died and more "traditional" jrpgs happened that made the games more braindead and focused on grinding than anything else. this caused a backlash leading to people who missed the older more nuanced gameplay of dungeon crawlers to make more, but etrian oddsey and all those games are over a decade old now and once again the genre is sliding into being shit like labrynth of refrain which is focused on grinding and story more than actual gameplay

so wait another 10 years and we'll get good dungeon crawlers again.

japanese dungeon crawlers suck

etrian odyssey looks like THAT now???

This is amazing news, thanks for letting me know. Also I wouldn't give up on an overseas release considering it took a couple of years for the original to get here. I'm hoping it'll get here quicker than that though.

This is know a LoR bread

potato nun sucks. keep her away from chestnut doll

dungeon crawler isnt a genre
maybe different genres have dungeon crawling as the theme

They have their niche I think, it's a pretty small one though, sadly. I'd just like to know what's going on with EO, we finally got that SMT news so with any luck that's next.

As long as there are cute girls in it, I'll play them. I wouldn't have played EO if it wasn't for the lolis and I wouldn't have played Refrain if it wasn't for Dronya.

It's not like they're very expensive to make.
>Make a couple 1x1 tile wall and floor textures you can copy everywhere
>Have someone draw some character portraits.
>You're pretty much already halfway done.
90% of the budget for Jap crawlers probably goes to getting the voice actors.

It's been about 2 years since the Next Stage trailer so knowing Atlus we'll probably get news either soon or 3 more years from now.

>dronya
>not mezzaluca

drpg
blobber
gridder
take your pick. personally I think drpg is the least cancerous

I’ve been on a dungeon crawler binge recently. Currently playing through SMT Strange Journey Redux, recommend me some more dungeon crawlers. Specifically what you consider pinnacles of the genre.

>So-iny
cut this shit out you cock mongling garbageoid console war shitfucker

>only appears near the endgame
user...

It's an extremely cheap genre to make, if Mary Skelter could get three games with its abysmal sales then it's safe.

labyrinth of refrain

A well executed game of any genre can succeed.

Why would you want them to survive? If you hate vidya so much just pay board games

Any good new releases? I'm really starved for one right now.
