Why are we still here? Just to suffer?
Why are we still here? Just to suffer?
I will be more hyped for a game than V.
Good luck user, this one ruined me.
Exactly what I was thinking about 30 hours into this dogshit
I meant to say "I will never be more hyper for a game than V.". I was at that point, but now passed it realizing it is what it is. It's honestly my own fault for getting too hyped and having too much faith in Kojima.
>Play this game
>Feel a lot of emotion for the characters
>Feel invested in them
>Wow, so I was X the entire time?
>I gotta replay it to understand what this all means
>read up on the lore
>Wow, this metal gear game has some amazing lore
>watch youtube video interpretations of this and other metal gear games
>Try to play another metal gear game
>It sucks, got to freezing bombs in MGS2
>The End in MGS3
>Didnt enjoy them at all
What the fuck gives?
did the dog died?
It sounds like you might enjoy Peace Walker, but that's about it.
What was your biggest red flag and realization it's gonna get ugly?
For me it was when I realized they already said 80% of the quotes from the trailer before you even reached mother base.
I don't know, did you save him?
Sounds like you might want to just die instead.
Getting at chapter 2, and there's repeating missions.
>Cutscenes are kino
>Gameplay is tight
>Everything else is trash
What went wrong with MGSV?
kill yourself
The game should had more linear missions, and boss fights against characters, not skulls
Why did they abandoned the original MGS1 and MGS2 game style?
Why is there little to no sneaking?
The world will never know. v/tards will tell you it was kojimbos fault and fanboys will cry konami
Yeah, you could pinpoint this is exactly when Konami got tired of Kojimbo's bullshit.
>The End in MGS3
literally the best bossfight in the game and in the series.
You can play MGSV exactly the same as MGS2, there's just other options if you want them.
>The game being unfinished is intentional
>It gives you a metaphysical phantom pain
Bravo Kojima?
>Filtered by a 150 years old man with a WW2 "sniper" rifle
OH NONONONO
seems like you're simply unfit for life. I suggest kys
No I beat him, it was after the fact I simply lost interest.
My first time playing MGS3 I killed The End when he was in the wheelchair and my friend chastised me. So I went and beat him legit. And then after that I just stopped playing.
>didn't know Kaz, Ocelot, Huey or Paz
>feel invested in them
based contrarian shitposter
Old MGS games filter via terrible control schemes. Outside of V Peace Walker emulated on PS3 has the best control scheme if you want to try that. Going in release order is honestly the way to play them though as I'd argue once you forgive MGS1's issues you can deal with and make sense of the rest of the series problems.
>Kojima shits out one complete blunder after the other for a decade since when he found his studio, Kojimaproduction, up to 2015
>Publicy claim he is calling it quits with the franchise several times just to force Konami's hands and get a bigger paycheck everytime because of senseless cult of personality of the mgs fanbase.
>Culminating his career at Konami with an unfinished game that surpassed 80 million dollars of budget and 5 years of development, and a mess of a storyline.
>It's also a worse Far Cry with somehow worse shooting, no real weapons and pointless shit online and grind/base management tackled on
>B-b-but you don't get it, he never wanted to make those games, evil Konami FORCED HIM to work on those games.
>Let's ignore that he has been vice president of Konami for this whole time
>Advertise a new game as some horror action post apocalyptic third person game
>Starting to look like a delivery sim the more news come in
>Shills in full force yelling how it's totally NOT a walking simulator
>Turns out it really is
>A-akthually yes, but y-you just want another COD...g-g-go back to Fortnite...
>Not even breaking 3 million copies on console after 8 months
>Delivery simulator with literally no physics for vehicles, the best tactic is literally Skyrim horse your way to the objective with the bike.
>Somehow he can't spare some of its dozens and dozens and dozens of millions he wasted for Normie Fetus ugly (and mostly mute) mug for giving the total of 3 vehicles you get to drive something open world games had 2 decades ago.
>"B-but art, you just don't get it *Take a sip of Monster Energy Drinkā¢*
>Literal AA sales figures, 700k copies sold on Steam at launch
>Complete silence on sales for more than half a year
>Kojima humiliating himself insisting proudly how 8+ months after release the masterpiece he put so much passion into after being free from the shackles of evil Konami, broke even.
the gameplay of these games aged badly nothing wrong with you
I didnt know anything about Kaz, going into MGS V I thought he was a brand new character.
I did know Ocelot though but it was hard to connect him with the young pistol slinger in MGS3 and also as the old guy I saw on videogame forums and media when they talked about MGS.
Huey's character was a lot darker in the lore outside of V, and Paz. Well I knew she meant something to the guy I was playing as at the time. So I was eager to understand what that was all about.
But then all the games suck.
Someone told me I'm making the same mistake right now with Yakuza by playing Yakuza 0 first, but, I just want to play the most recent best game first. Sorry.
every thread
I knew next to nothing about Kaz and Ocelot aside from some basic lore reading and still got invested in them.
This was early MGS timeline, there wasn't much before that you could go back to. MGSV fleshed out these two characters to the max, majority of their series presence was in V.
Kaz's voice acting in V is top tier. Almost carries the game on his own.
>stopped playing after The End
All of Kojima's games are both front and end loaded in terms of story and the middle is carried by top tier gameplay for the time. Sadly that's aged the worst but as some one who played MGS1-3 after playing V they all had a point about 2/3rds of the way through where the story really starts rolling and I got hooked. Hell even Death Stranding does the same thing.
>Someone told me I'm making the same mistake right now with Yakuza by playing Yakuza 0 first, but, I just want to play the most recent best game first. Sorry.
And ruin the experience of playing both new and old games like you said yourself. Fucking retard.
MGS3 to MGSV with Ocelot is very jarring. And then to MGS1.
After Liquid dies Ocelot has a reason for having jarring differences, and then in MGS4, it was all a big trick.
What the fuck is this series?
This game fills me with melancholy like no other.
I was completely subverted by the ending. It was a straight up ambush, I was played like a fucking fiddle.
Kaz was so invested on big boss, he was loyal to him and would clearly do anything for him. You could feel how these two partners were on a journey together, a journey for revenge. Revenge for all their lost comrades, MSF, the limbs they lost, the torture, the pain. They all went into hiding for 9 fucking years. They didn't let go. They came back and rebuilt outer heaven, then, suddenly, the man who betrayed the world. It wasn't them anymore. Kaz got played like a fiddle again, he was betrayed. All those scenes of them together, Kaz was just looking at a fake big boss. Their whole relationship went to shit. Ocelot and Kaz became enemies. Venom turned out to be some poor medic that got brainwashed into being someone else and got put on the frontline against solid snake. I mean the fucking ending of the game is Venom getting ready to fight Solid. It all goes south from there. They all die. No one lives, it all broke apart.
MGSV is a great game. Only a few missions after you find the "Weapons Expert" in Africa does it become boring and repetitive.
Being able to craft your own weapons was fun for a few missions, but by then it was obvious the game had ran out of steam. Nothing new would be introduced besides "harder" difficulty, that doesnt scale at all with the tools you're given.
Only V-Ocelot is jarring, but ironically has the least character when in cannon playing the least sides.
It's a shame because outside of MGSV he is by far the most enjoyable character in every game he appeared in.
Liquid Ocelot is pretty weird. In MGS2 he acts more or less just like Liquid, but in MGS4 he doesn't really act like Liquid at all, which makes you wonder how it was effective as a ruse, hypnotherapy or no. I always figured in MGS2 he really was possessed and adopted the persona later for his plan, but that doesn't really make Liquid Ocelot in MGS4 less weird.
Ultimately Ocelot was more interesting/fun when he was just an agent of the Patriots and not Big Boss's Number 1 Fan. I don't mind the idea of Ocelot turning against the Patriots, but I wish he had more original motivations than "I dunno Outer Heaven is cool I guess and I love Big Boss."
