what's so good about deadfire and original sin 2? I never hear any actual arguments, what are the selling points of those games?

>Deadfire
>beautiful
>interesting but really niche setting
>great itemization
>gay fish

>Divinity 2
>retard-friendly (3d and turn based)
>fun boss encounters

Get Divinity if you're not sure.

>>interesting but really niche setting
HAHAHAHA deadfire has a generic fucking ''knights and dragons lol XD'' fantasy setting

>deadfire
>above average sequel to one of the best rpgs of the decade

and what was so good about that rpg of the decade?

How? One of my biggest complaints is tat from 1 to 2 it felt like jumping from a medieval fantasy game to assassins creed black flag.

The characterization/worldbuilding/story of pillars of eternity blew me away. Honestly I would put it up there as one of my all time favorites.

nothing

also just how in depth and tabletop-like the combat was but it was stripped to mobile game tier for deadfire.

and it had huge labyrinthine dungeons
fuck bros it was the perfect storm of good game design.

Pillars of Eternity is so bad that it killed a studio

Wonder why it flopped?

Must have been the gay fish

if you care about that its pretty safe to say that your opinion is the worthless opinion of someone who didn’t play the game.
it wasn’t good but not for the reasons someone told you to think that you repeat.

What's the gay fish meme? I'm not a huge isometric guy, I've only played Age of Empires 1&2 and Mythology as a kid. Is Pillars of Eternity fun?

PoE1 was good but you need to get into the setting or it will fall flat. PoE2 changed the tone to more lighthearted and comical while mangling anything that made the setting interesting. The combat is better in some ways but worse in that the capability to use all spells every battle leads to all battles feeling the same.

Dos2 uses elevation, environmental effects, and combos to create a far better combat system. The armor system and itemization hurt the game though.

Both games fall apart the farther you get in them. Dos2 is much better than PoE2.

I fucking love the endless paths dude. kino dungeon.

1 is more knights and classic fantasy where essentially you have the powers of the kid from sixth sense and you have to do a big un-abortion. It has some greatly written characters. The worldbuilding is hard to get into but once you do it feels as deep as an ocean.
2 is the sequel and uses some of the choices you made from the last game ala mass effect, but its almost an entirely different game with pirates and more open world. It has some more refined mechanics but I find it less satisfying to play and less captivating than the first.

Divinity fans are fucking retarded
>the customization is so great
>majority of them pick preset characters instead of creating one

>deadfire
Nothing.

>OS2
Strong turn based combat system with lots of fun environmental interactions and fun encounter design coupled with probably the strongest RPG co-op experience.

Mix the two:
>PoE itemization, world, six party members
>DOS2 combat, environmental exploration, interactive world

Ooooh.

Deadfire and the other games in that engine look nice, and are easy to play (like the IE games but 4 Dummiez).

>six party members
>when you remember deadfire fucked even that up

Nice but I'd still want rtwp option.

I don't think any of the IE games were as tough as POE The Ultimate

PoE's itemization is among the worst in genre
Not as bad as OS, but still

>always wanted to play PoE, look up romanceable characters
>poe has none
>poe2 has some
>there is a mod for custom anime potraits
Looks like I will give that game a shot. Oh and here for poe2 nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2

I don't even understand how western devs really think ugly people make the game better.

I am retarded, here nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/444

Portraits won't fix the abhorrent characters

What? The itemization in both PoE1 and 2 are far better than most. You can find items at any given time in the game that you could wear the whole game. Like baldurs gate. Can also feel the upgrades usually.

The only items in PoE that feel even remotely approaching BG's greatness are soulbound weapons
Even then, they will never match something like Staff of the Magi

which will give me a good role playing experience?

I really hope Avowed is good. Not a huge fan of the Skyrim-esque feel they're going for. I'm a huge sucker for Dark Messiah though, if they have some responsive AI then I'll be really happy

>Portraits won't fix the abhorrent characters
dunno, maybe I will like it. My biggest issue with poe and other isometric rpgs were that I need to controll the camera with fucking wasd and can't just touch the edge like in strategy games.

There is a character in 2 who is basically the Eorza equivalent of a Merfolk/Fish man. He's also a romance option for both sexes. The "gay fish" thing is just being pushed by emotionally stunted autists who think 15 year old South Park references are the peak of comedy.
>Is the game good?
Yes, but I'd recommend playing PoE1 first. The games are RPGs, they don't really have much in common with RTS games like Age of Empires.

Pick 1

The entire pantheon is a fucking joke
