You know that dry cat food isn't vegan 99% of the time, right? It includes dried out meat products along with a lot of filler.It isn't "meat free" because its dry.

There's healthful dry catfood and healthful wet cat food too, but common brands are generally junk with fillers, grains, and low quality meat by products.

Sure you can go with a raw food type diet (this stuff is frozen if you don't make it yourself) but there are decent dry and wet catfood options out there - you just need to go to health food stores and buy natural/organic brands, but be sure to check for your particular cat's needs nutritionally.

Its entirely possible that a vegan cat food COULD be nutritious, but given that cats are normally obligate carnivores it must have all the nutrients they'd otherwise get from meat based foods in a way that can be easily digested. Its kinda like people, just because something is "vegan" doesn't necessarily mean its healthy - you cant just jam it full of onions protein and say "good enough" and its even worse for a cat. .

You can be healthier as a vegan if you're comparing that to the average obese person who is constantly scarfing down sugar and processed food, but the most truly optimal diets include a bit of meat. Every study shows vegans and vegetarians having less muscle mass and needing more supplements, so clearly those diets aren't ideal.
