That's exactly how I got through most of Iceborne, I've only had to switch to DBs for Alatreon. I just can't hit the thresholds with SA.

Guard 3 is the minimum you'll want to have to be fully sure you can parry anything without too much damage, outside of AT Nami's nova which rapes you even with red shield and Guard 5

Give me a reason to keep playing lance because honestly after getting better timing with sns and keeping basically the same level of aggression and defense, but more utility and damage, i feel like lance is just a waste of time and an exercise in frustration against monsters that have truly unblockable attacks

Those attacks are the same reason I dropped guardpoint focused shit off my charge blade sets, it became a massive net loss to block/gp them instead of just rolling to the point I just gave up wasting time with them.

It sucks because counterGP into SAED was really fantastic, and with the extra upkeep of savage now you'd think they'd let it at least keep that but nope.

Take it from somewhere who played a shit load of Lance across games, learn to dodge, get evade window if you have to.
Shield counter is a shit move and you're better off picking up almost anything else.

Is evade lancing even a thing? Damage is already garbage with 20% extra damage from offensive guard, evading seems like a waste

Shield Counter is great in theory but in practice it's not worth it because monsters now never stop attacking and the damage you get out of it is not high enough to justify the risk.
Unfortunately CB suffers from similar issues due to the nerfs to GPs and the weapon's slow speed, making GP counters not at all reliable given how monsters can reposition themselves fast enough for you whiff most of the time.

Evade lance is more old school thing before you could block everything short of a nuke. You're only doing it in World to show off.

You hit the nail on the head. Lance's big unique thing does fuck all, so just pick up another weapon.
