Best Dante design

I still had fun with it when I was younger

One day I'll actually play it and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up not that bad at all.

better than 4 kek

i still dont understand why they even bottered remastering this without changing a single thing

Its major problem is it's just really fucking boring.

it's okay. to be honest i like it more than the first game.

It has the best Dante design and Lucia is cool as fuck. Shame about the gameplay.

This. If they ever needed a "serious Dante" look no further than DMC2.

Trust me, i felt this way too. Its bad. Incredibly boring and under designed. I mean, you wont fall through the floors, or get stuck or have the game crash or anything. But its the dullest most non-game ive ever played

DMD mode was kino AF
inb4 shitters that only played the broken ass remaster versions

Best in the series

I thought the same a couple of years ago.
No, this game is as bad as Zig Forums makes it out to be, which is a rare occurrence, certainly.
It's not even one of those meme bad games, it's just plain boring.
Only good thing is the soundtrack.

Literally how

DMC2 is kino. Easily my favorite "so bad it's good" game.

i just find both kinda bad and boring. but dmc2 has lucia and moving from place to place is just more fun.

It's kinda hard to understand just from words what boring is in DMC context. I mean, I imagine some can find first boring after coming from third since it's more of a RE game. What are you all talking about? I only played 1, 3 and 4 if that matters.

Is posting mobile shit cheating?

>I imagine some can find first boring after coming from third since it's more of a RE game
DMC1 is a RE-like game. 2 is empty corridors with braindead enemies and retarded bosses in the sense that they have 1 or 2 attacks repeated in the same pattern over and over again. No puzzles, no secret rooms, only one type of weapon and all of them having the same moveset.

Good Dante design, decent music, introduced some mechanics that were improved upon later, Lucia is waifu, "King? Here's your crown" is an unironically good line, even if it's the only witty thing he says in the whole game.
Also, while it failed to recapture the not accidental but not entirely planned lightning of DMC1, it wasn't any worse than the average hack and slash game of the era. Remember Chaos Legion? Nano Breaker?

And for that I'd still rank it above DmC:DmC. DMC2 was an average ass game of the era, it just didn't know what to do with the new genre DMC1 created. DmC was made when the genre was pretty much solved, and still managed to fuck it up, and it was all because of Tameem's stupid ego.

Best soundtrack in the series

FPBP

I played recently. It's bad but it's so fucking easy that I just end up laughing at it anyway so I didn't walk away mad about it.

>Chaos Legion
I had to return it back in the day since PC port was an absolute shit. Was it all right?

It was ok, I don't get the extremism

I recently (and by recently I mean yesterday) got possessed by something that compelled me to do a DMD run of lucia's disk again. Then it all came back to me:
>the entirety of the jokatgulm fight
>the entirety of the noctpteran fight
>INVISIBLE FISH
>stop attacking savage golems for as much as 2 seconds and they'll enter an invulnerable animation in which they regen back to full health; add flocks of demonochorus fucking with your lock-on for maximum fun
>ERUPT GEL
>for some reason a large portion of enemies react to lucia's DT attacks skipping frames of their knock back animations, so the game looks like it's constantly on the verge of crashing
It's bad. It's worse. And yet, I still feel her campaign has more coherent cutscenes than dante's, overall.

It's honestly like a 4/10 but that stands out a lot between DMC1 and DMC3. Granted that score is some truly awful gameplay being held up by some decent system ideas that Itsuno improved for 3, some great visual design, and the best OST in the series.

One of the worst AI in a Hack'n Slash. Enemies are literally braindead like all the retards defending the game in this thread
Shitty level design composed by empty corridors
Only one sword with 2 variants
Guns are so broken they turn the game into a joke. And it's already a joke without them
No progression. You start with a few combos and when you end the game, you will have the same combos with no change at all. The only upgrades are +Damage and so
Extremely awful auto lock-on
Guns juggle the enemies, fucking kek!
Worst Stinger in the franchise
There is only one ""challenging"" part in the game and it is during the last bossfight. The rest of the game is retarded-tier easy. Even on the hardest difficulty
And I could keep counting flaws but it's no worth it.

This game is far from being mediocre. It is straight up a 3/10, and it deserves all the hate it gets. This is one of those times Zig Forums was right about the game being utter trash. And no, it is not a "it's so bad it's good" case, it is bad it's boring and ugly as sin. Even Capcom is so ashamed of the game they wont give away the name of the REAL director

It's a decent action game with a pretty cool system where you can bring out summons with different attack patterns. Story is solid too because it's actually a novel adaptation.

i wish they brought back those dodges

Don't forget that the other swords SAY that they're longer/weaker or shorter/stronger than Rebellion but they actually aren't. A real shame because Ithink Vendetta looks cool and the idea of a heavier sword for Dante is nice.

>but they actually aren't
Wait. Did you just say that my girl venndetta, the only thing I like from 2, isn't actually stronger than rebellion when I use it? What's the fucking point then

>What's the fucking point then
There was a point, but the game is unfinished, so it actually makes sense.

There is nothing that occurs in dmc2 that has any kind of gameplay significance. Enemies are not difficult, bosses are not varied, anything can be killed just by shooting your guns. Levels are boring plain corridors, the game goes on for quite awhile. Nothing is memorable. It has nothing to do with being compared to any other dmc game, just by itself its an incredibly dull, uneventful and low stakes game.

I beat DMC2 DMD on the PC HD version.
I was pleasantly surprised by how the enemies were smarter and had more moves on DMD.
Regardless it was still a soul-torturing experience with damage sponge enemies and the least responsive character control in the series.
I've heard about the differences between DMC1 and DMC3 between PS2 and the HD collection, but never DMC2; how was DMC2 changed?
