Abby isn't a bad character, but her entire playable plot in this game was pointless and did nothing to ruin the pacing

I hear many negroes complaining but I din't heard an alternative to fix the story. It is very easy to complain when you never have write a script
I want to hear your alternative character buildings and the new story you will consider a good story.

Games about KILLING BAD always ring hollow for this reason.

I'd love to see more videogames where fights end inconclusively - your enemy just runs away when he feels like he's losing, or he gives up and surrenders and lets you take his shit so long as you stop hurting him. That kind of thing. Killing should be rare.

That way a KILLING BAD message can actually get through.

If we hadn't seen her side of the story (which I thought was also interesting in its own right), the ending wouldn't have the power it does. She's arguably a better person than Ellie and certainly doesn't deserve to die any more than she does.

Also, her half of the game was worth it for the theatre confrontation alone. That was fucking amazing.

I never felt like the game was overtly telling me what to feel. It felt like it was just presenting both of their stories and inviting me to consider my feelings towards them and their actions. I felt conflicted most of them time, which is exactly what they intended.

That isn't why Ellie lets Abby go. Ellie thought she was on a journey of revenge but she was really on a journey to forgive Joel. She realises while drowning Abby that it isn't going to help at all, just as Abby realised right after killing Joel that it was a disgusting and pointless thing to do.

The character is the story. The story can't be fixed without essentially rewriting the character, which would functionally essentially be an entirely different plot as well.

In addition, REVENGE BAD is a boring trope and it's especially hollow in a game where killing people is a large part of the gameplay. So you'd have to change not only the character and the plot but the entire theme of the game.

Basically, TLOU2 is bad from first principles. No part of the narrative is salveagable.

Her character is written terribly. Her entire development takes place in a dumb flashback before you fight her. Its then uselessly elongated as you rapidly forget about the reasons why the antagonist serves that function. Finally it snaps back to her being the antagonist.

Abby is not complex and is not human. She is a character in a video game. And she is written poorly by people who didnt make characters well.

Her problem was that she was connected to Joel and Ellie in a really eh way.
Her character arc makes more sense if you remove all that revenge stuff
The cycle doesn't work if you kill everyone who tries to take revenge on you

That's one of many differences between the two, but it doesn't contradict anything I wrote. Also, Abby did let Ellie live at the theatre even after she killed Owen and Mel.

Just cut the whole Abby part that dominates the second half. Add more Ellie narrative. The game is too long and ND trying to force the player to connect and sympathise with Abby and the things going on around her is just pointless.

Scenes like that were quite heavy handed and they didn't make me personally feel guilty for my actions as Ellie, but they still helped humanise Abby's story. I had no strong opinion about the dog stuff one way or the other, it was among the least memorable parts of the game but never offended me.
