Unironically I don't think Rean's basic character arc is necessarily bad.

After all, how many anime protags end up literally becoming a teacher mid-series and lead around a party of his pupils? That could be actually pretty interesting.

He's just blander than Estelle, Kevin, and Lloyd because he's closer to your generic self-insert silent protag than any other Kiseki protag because Falcom wanted to chase the Persona crowd instead of focusing on what made their franchise special. Bond points, multiple romanceable heroines, and general character cast bloat is keeping Rean from reaching the full Meme Machine potential that he really could have achieved. He'd have been the chaddest of all time if Falcom had a little more restraing when making the whole Cold Steel franchise.

Fuck Bond Points. Fuck multiple romances. Fuck 3D dialogue portraits. And most of all, fuck holding back. Make Kiseki Great Again.
