I know you have a Pavlonian response whenever the puppet is mentioned because I know you're mad the puppet from a spinoff is more popular, more liked by Sakurai and the development team, and overall more likely than your characters. Only Miyamoto restricts paper mario characters. Geno is cannon to alpha dream who had creativity over what and who they made and were allowed to re use them.
Geno being under the alpha dream series probably means Geno doesn’t have any restrictions apart from square.
Helps as well that miyamoto created Geno and other unique mario characters from paper mario probably weren’t created by him.
