HOLY SOUL
NINTENDO
Yup. Nintendos version will not match up. Sad, really.
SUE
>If the rumors are true and we got a Mario 64 remake it would just be a stretched Mario 64 or a single screen Mario 64 DS if we're lucky
Um... guys?
Soulless
Link?
This unironically looks kino.
Soulless
So will the PC version of sm64 patch in the uncompressed audio and visuals from the leak(s)?
The leaks came at the perfect time. Fuck shitendo.
Unreal Engine
For sure. I'd love to see the gaming community make something better than what we commercially got with pure source assets.
>one path requires dodging a bunch of wall shit, doing some jumps, and dodging 2 thwomps up a flight of stairs
>the other just requires a high jump, then running up a ramp with zero obstacles
What did Nintendo mean by this?
It's not really a remake, it's a remaster
Oh Christ, here we go.
A remaster is a slight tweak to the original material (occasional updated textures, refined/ additional audio), re-rez and/ or upscaling
A remake is the same game (physics, gameplay, etc), with modern audio and visuals.
A reboot is FF7R
looks soulless as fuck disgusting sonygro
It's most likely going to just be emulation again. In the small chance that it's a full-on remake it'll most likely follow the modern NSMB/SM3DW look and won't have the DS remake extras
Looks great, but I think i'll wait until they're done remaking the levels in that SGI look, Thwomp's Fortress looks great so far
you still have to take the hard path for red coins
That actually looks pretty nice. OP's pic looks like shit and reminds me of those Russian Doom "remake" projects where they use hi res textures and 3D models, but keep the same low poly maps.
The SGI mod looks like dogshit because Mario isn't very animated in SM64 and is largely incapable of changing his expression, and his hands only stop being knotted balls when swimming or posing after collecting a star
Level geometry is way too simplistic and tile-textured for any kind of upscale or texture replacement to look any better than the original game, that grass texture looks like a green carpet as a result
Remake would imply the game has been remade. Metroid Zero Mission is a remake, because the original NES game isn't still operating under the hood somewhere.
I'm not sure I'd even call FF7R a reboot since the game's plot is completely reliant on the assumption that the original FF7 is canon.
>Almost 30 years later
Oh wow, such an achivement
Why not make new levels?
Yeah, it's kinda a sequel/reboot, which I can't help but feel makes it worse.
I treat it as more of a "divergent canon" or spin-off kind of dealie. I'm all for it, personally, the original game was silly at best anyhow and my interest in it went from "might check it out" to "oh shit history niggas 10/10" the night it leaked and it turned out to not be a 100% remake.
Nintendo's remake will undoubtedly have the shitty fucking gimped Sunshine wall jump
The only way I would play it is if they preserved the ACTUAL SGI models and lighted it appropriately
You're in the majority. I largely believe in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mantra, and I see the industry "fix" shit all the time, more often than not ending up a "meh" at best experience.
FF7R comes across to me as very "fixed", especially since (combat aside) I was among those who wanted a nearly 1:1.
Source?
64 was already remade like 15 years ago r tard. And the “rumored” 3D Mario collection is just that, a collection. Not remakes.
*INHALES*
>remake
remaster nigger.
