What are some charming videogames? Maybe something a bit whimsical, with interesting NPC's and a comfy town, but just anything would do. Any genre.

Ideally on PS4 because consolebabby

earthbound

Mystery of the Druids.

Kingdom hearts 1 unironically
Traverse town is peak comfy and if you go into the game ignoring most conceptions of the game, you will have a kinda enjoyable experience. I played it before really watching disney, so to me donald and goofy were animal characters like other weied creatures in past rpg's and final fantasies like freya from 9

This is a great suggestion and would completely fit the bill, but unfortunately I've played all the Kingdom Hearts games.
Traverse Town is pretty great, it's nice when you can come back and see new residents there or little updates, and then talk to characters around town, even if they don't have much to say. I like KH3 but Twilight Town completely failed in that regard.
I wouldn't mind more suggestions of this ilk, even older games that got a remaster on PS4 are fine. Appreciate all that has been suggested so far.

Undertale if you haven't played it already. Uber comfy and fantastic music. Most characters are fairly 1-dimensional and combat just serviceable but I enjoyed it a lot.

Test

You mean Yakuza 0?

Well, persona 5 but that game gets tedious after a while

Gravity rush is a very very charming series, and is very comfy as well. Solid 7/10 series but to me is a 10/10

Final fantasy 12 is charming and has comdy hubs but not many quirky characters really. Very dry story and characters but it has its moments.

Dark souls 2 has the comfiest hub in all games, majula, and has pretty interesting npc's. There is a talking cat for instance, and you have to clothe one girl you rescue (however you want) before she agrees to come back to majula with you.

>dark souls 2
>FF12
>charming
this is the most retarded post I've read all year. not even persona 5 is charming but those other two are the polar opposite

Dragon Quest 8

Radiata Stories is better.

Good suggestion, played it though, loved it
Yakuza is sort of more gritty with its substories, I was thinking of something a bit whimsical too

>Gravity rush
I've had an interest in it, but I played the demo for 2 and wasn't too into the gameplay. I did like a lot of the things it did, but when it came to the combat and stuff, it just felt a bit flat. At least, that's how I remember it

Does it let you interact with NPC's and have small little "town" hubs where you can pick up side quests? I think I'd really be into something like that, or even just one central town where it at least feels like the protagonist has some sort of relationship with the residents

>this is the most retarded post I've read all year
i refuse to believe that
we're on Zig Forums

I would call Dark Cloud 2 charming. it was originally on PS2 but there is a digital PS4 port for it.
Odin Sphere is another charming PS2 game, and it has a remastered version for the PS4. the towns in it are really shallow but there are many interesting characters.

>suggests the worst version
Play Origins or OG release.

deadly premonition 2 for sure. But wait for a patch, assuming you have a switch.

He said he had a PS4 though

Ff12 is absolutely charming, really cool job system, hunts, ivalice is a cool world. List goes on. Characters are dry though

I've just looked and Deadly Premonition isn't on PS4 at all actually
I imagine the requirements are low and it will probably run on my PC, is it best to just buy it on Steam?

Gravity rush does have that. Pretty much each section of the city is a new hub, at least in 1. Tons of side quests and very charming and cute interactions. 2 really steps it up because sometimes as you are traveling the world, you will just happen to pass by someone you helped earlier in the game and they will chat with you and have a nice conversation. 1 is a better game imo, but 2 does a lot of neat stuff like I mentioned

Dragon's Dogma in a weird way?

And to add to it, the first game you are building kat's reputation with the city. They fucking hate you at first but as you save parts of the city and get stuff like lights and elevators working again, slowly the people will be more nice. It isnt shown as much as interactions in 2, but its still there

Dragons dogma actually is real good. Very comfy game

>Does it let you interact with NPC's and have small little "town" hubs where you can pick up side quests?
The first game only has 6 side missions. You can talk to certain people at given times to learn what's been happening in the districts.
The second game comes loaded with tons of side missions, more conversations, and from time to time you can bump into people who;'ve helped and they'll give you an update on their situation. Sometimes you even get mail at your "house's" postbox.

1 is a better adventure. 2 is a better slice of life, if that makes any sense.
Oh yeah, and 2 has a camera. Go nuts with it.

Destiny Connect hits all those points. Just don't expect anything fancy given it's a budget game. It is a very solid take on the JRPG formula with some fun mechanics

God no, user. Trust me. I'm not that user, but deadly premonition is the most notoriously broken PC game. It took me 2 nights of messing with it to get it to work, and even then i couldn't finish the final boss fight because of a bug. If you don't have a ps3, or have tons and tons of patience and are okay with trouble shooting, I wouldn't recommend it.

Not sure about the PC port. The game is unstable through every release though.

Deadly premonition 2 is shit.
