>are you coding son?
How is your game development going Zig Forums?
Are you coding son?
Non-gamedev here.I still can't comprehend how programming 2d movement in a game can be hard. How hard is it just to make your character move left and right?
I use playmaker, technically i dont code.
>uhhh user, you are supposed to use code only
Hollow Knight used Playmaker, keep seething.
it's not
How do I learn to code/make games?
It's not, but refining controls is
OP here, I don't code and I'm not a gamedev either. I just downloaded unity the other day and I'm having fun with it. It's surprisingly easy after watching a few youtube tutorials. I think most people give up because they want to make something specific and then they realize that in order to make that they'll need a ton more knowledge and experience. if you download unity, watch a few tutorials, learn a few basic things and decide to make a small and simple game using only your limited knowledge you can easily make it.
Just use Playmaker or Bolt, Bolt became free last week cause Unity bought it.
I drew that fish

I want a side project, something just fun and not too serious, but im not sure what to do
Me too. I'm kinda in this situation where I'm not good enough to do what I really want to do, so I should get my feet wet with something simpler. But I can't think of any simple ideas.
I'm decent enough with UE4 and own enough assets to do whatever I want really, but now I struggle with finding the right idea that is practical to make in a reasonable time frame. Either way right now i want an easy/simple distraction. Just not sure what.. maybe an idle game of some sort.
I do art and my friend uses unreal's blueprints
i'm definitely not a developer but i got gamemaker studio 2 a while back and i've been having fun making small games.
I am in the last steps before starting my own "professional" game, it will be a Dating Sim with sand box elements.
I already have money, the necessary tools and knowledge (except English, but I will pay some slave to fix the final text).
My game will have 100% white and heterosexual characters.
thank god
BASED
How do you stop with project creep? For example, I've been developing a mobile game for quick cash, but I just thought of a much more interesting game that I actually want to make. Not only that, I have many programs/apps I want to make to make my life easier. I know the mantra is "always finish your projects UNLESS IT'S A LOST CAUSE". Should I just grind out this mobile game and move on? I don't wanna drop it as it was supposed to be a cash grab cause I need cash. I don't know how you creatives do it.
Currently composing for a project. Wrapped up a track yesterday, got the go-ahead to move forward for a new piece today. Gonna see if I can get a friend to record live shakuhachi on it.
I'm going to mod in gay niggers and there's nothing you can do about it.
CRINGE
Going alright, played around with a custom character controller a bit this week
That's a good fish and good trips
>have a game idea
>but I am a lowly 3d artist
>don't want to be constrained by unity
>keep that shit to myself
ah well
are you a good 3d artist?
No problem. I will leave all scripts and game assets open to facilitate modifications of text and art. I will also secretly distribute the game on forums dedicated to piracy, in addition to keeping a torrent always available.
My goal is to make a game that brings fun to people's lives - even if only 50 people play worldwide.
The only detail is that there will be no "diversity" in the character roster.
I thought it was stargate from the thumbnail and got my hopes up
I'm decent enough
looks familiar
I'd offer you a job if I had money
When I was a kid I was a total IDEAS GUY with no real interest in coding
Now that I have the time to go and learn how to code I've forgotten all my ideas and can't really come up with anything new
This should trigger you less
is he ok?
you'd have to learn to optimize models, I can only see 5 of these things rendered in real time in a game
>2D nice sprites for playable characters
>3D enemies
is this a bad idea to mix 2D and 3D? i kinda dont wanna handdraw animate enemies
don't want to make a games because fuck that I'll design mushroom people wastelanders and dwarves until I die
He's already a pill, so I'm not sure you can give him anything for the pain
