Absolutely terrible ideas in games you otherwise like

>you know what would be a massive pain in the ass and make the game significantly less fun for everybody
>hmmm, if we turned estus and magic into consumables the player has to tediously grind for instead of refilling when they die or rest?
>fuck yeah, but also - get this - ALSO making them sit through at least two loading screens every time they try to go to the bonfire when it used to take half a second lol

whats wrong with leveling up in a bonfire? they did it right in ds1, why they had to change it back?

You deserve the grind for relying so heavily on healing, fuckboy.

First point is cringe but second is based.

How do you actually run out of vials? Also they are cheap as fuck from the shop if you do manage to run out.

It's still a pain in the ass to run through two loading screens and waste a bunch of money every time you want them

>ever having to grind in BB
Filtered. The real shit idea was chalice dungeons and gems.

>The real shit idea was chalice dungeons and gems.
Filtered.

Say whatever you want, but he has a point about the loading. 2 loading screens just to bonfire if you want to upgrade weapons or refill items is absolute shit game design, and is especially inexcusable when previous games in the franchise did it better.

>healing in bloodborne
That's not how you get good.

Except I beat them all and got the meme 27.2 gems. It's just a shit mechanic to appease people who like mindless grinds when they could have used that time to work those assets into unique areas, since that's the actual good part of From games.

Uhh you are gonna hate demon’s souls remaster when it comes

It's excusable in Demon's Souls because it was the first game and they improved upon it later. If they remaster it you can't really blame them for keeping old mechanics and changing nothing.
It's retarded in Bloodborne because they went backwards and actively made the game more annoying to play for no discernable reason.

I only agree with the loading screens.
Blood vials are so stupidly easy to acquire that it is largely irrelevant

>needs more healing

Aren't you playing aggressive in combat to take advantage of the rally mechanic?

You don't have to grind if you dodge and rally properly

Blood gems were also a mistake. So much that even Miyazaki looked back on it and realized how fucking stupid it was. Bonus: top tier blood gem farming absolutely ruined PvP for Bloodborne more so than the healing and gun spam. You can beat someone by forcing them to use all their vials. You can work around Bloodtinge gunshot builds, even use the DLC shield for effective blocking.

You can't do a fucking thing about a 2-shot kill because some autistic faggot farmed the best gems for hours. Imagine a saw cleaver doing ultra greatsword damage. You don't have to imagine, because it's a thing you can do.

Anyone who complains about grinding for vials immediately outs themselves as a shitter

>All these retards spamming git gud
Yeah, it's not an issue when you're breezing through bosses, great point geniuses. It's an issue for people who are new to the game and suck at it, and it's a fair complaint.

I haven't played it but was justifiable that change? Are vials better than estus or the gourd in the other games?

>You can work around Bloodtinge gunshot builds
>You can't do a fucking thing about a 2-shot kill
I do not comprehend.

Makes leveling riskier, because you don't want to face the ridiculously long loading screens so you just try to keep playing and accumulating souls.

Having a larger number of them in the early game compared to dark souls is a kindness to a new player, so that's nice I guess. But the fact that they're consumables doesn't add anything except for potential grind if you're hardstuck at a boss. It's not a big deal if you know where to get souls quickly, but still. Estus is a great system so I don't know why they changed it.

Just wait for the PC port and all of these problems will be fixed

>if we turned estus and magic into consumables
>turned
This was how it's been since King's Field and there really isn't anything wrong with consumable healing items in the context of souls games outside the mess that was lifegems. FROM took the system from DeS and older titles, gave it a carry limit to mitigate the player being able to stockpile 99 like in DeS, and in addition to the rally system and how aggressive the gameplay is made a functional hybrid between estus and consumables that works for the game. Complaining about how grinding isn't "fun" isn't making a solid argument for why you think blood vials are bad, just that you had to spend more time grinding than other players and this bothered you. Some might say you are just bad at the game and leave it at that.

>loading screens
This is legit though

I imagine they where trying to harken back to Demon's Souls but the only reason it worked there was because of the linear, separate area design.

>Complaining about how grinding isn't "fun" isn't making a solid argument for why you think blood vials are bad
Why not? If grinding isn't fun and doesn't improve the game, that's something to complain about.
> just that you had to spend more time grinding than other players and this bothered you. Some might say you are just bad at the game and leave it at that.
Why would any amount of unfun grinding be good?

And Bloodborne ended up far more linear and separate in the end because of the shitty hub world. The first DaS seemed absolutely flawlessly connected. I will never forget the feelings of connecting all those paths back to Firelink, finally going over the massive wall that's been hiding the horizon the whole game, or seeing old areas from miles above and having your progress so viscerally presented to you. None of the other games have recreated that for me, although I never played 2. It has flaws but I don't think anyone can dispute that DaS really is an absolutely masterfully designed game.

>If grinding isn't fun
>if
Which is subjective and the point I'm making. Combat in Bloodborne is fun so grinding isn't unfun. You also should be sitting on blood echoes unless you pop them upon every acquisition so purchasing Blood Vials instead of spending time grinding is an easy option.

That is unless you just don't have many as a result of not exploring or just consuming them at every turn for some reason.

>Why would any amount of unfun grinding be good?
Because of the above statement. There isn't anything about blood vials that is so broken or anti-player that saying it's "not fun" holds much water. You think it wasn't fun, I didn't care because it never got in the way of my fun. Then you made this thread to complain about it.

It's really not hard at all to get a ton of blood vials

It's like that because of rally and the ability to hold 20 at a time from the beginning. It's called balance OP.

Chalice dungeons and how you farm gems

It worked in Demon's Souls because there were no bonfires in between bosses.

Not OP. Still a shit system.

Imagine there's a corner of the map where you can fall through the wall, get stuck, and have to reload your save. Then someone reports that defect and you try to defend it saying "you don't HAVE to go to that room, if you know where to go you can avoid this issue entirely, stop being a bitch"

the price to pay for waifus

Solving this issue is quite easy actually. Removing shortcuts or making them sparse between bosses. Bloodborne is easy AF because you can have infinite healing while trying to reach a boss. Shortcuts aren't even useful because of this.

I'm on my first playthrough and the chalice dungeons have to be the biggest fucking disappointment of the game. How did anybody think they were a good idea? What the fuck?
>Play this boring repetitive dungeon with the blandest enemies and environment in the game
>What the hell, why, this sucks
>So you can unlock the laundry list of shit you need for the next level of the same boring repetitive dungeon with same bland enemies and environment but even more of it all
