The anime took a different direction than the games
In the game, Ayumi, Satoshi, Naomi, Yuka and Kishinuma live since they all lived in the original game
Book of Shadows is when some part of the ritual to get home gets fucked up and Satoshi ends up going back in time right before the ritual to stop it
People keep some memories of what happened, try to prevent said cause of death from happening and end up making things worse
The anime killed everyone but 2 characters for some reason
