Why havent u backed GOTY?
Because it is already been successful, now I get to wait to see if its good or not before i buy it
its already funded. i can wait and see
have no trust or faith in modern gaming development
nothing can be looked forward to, only examined after it has released and been played by others
I heard the developers have a bad track record with representing poc, so I couldn't in good faith give them any money.
nice, time to back it
No switch port
because i dont have any money
I don't buy promises
>the third character on the kickstarter is a black female forest dweller with dreads
Yeah, fuck this game
I don't donate money to devs
Sadly people are seriously complaining about this in the comments. Hopefully the devs wont give it any true credence - its unlikely they will, especially how foolish most of it is. They are even bitching about how the black or brown woman who's one of the lead 4 or 5 they introduced is somehow a trope or some shit because she's from a nature-magic society or something rather than some sort of THE BLACK PEOPLE ARE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT technocracy.
Anyway, representation is okay but I've had enough with people demanding that every sub group not only be represented in every game, but in a certain way that always presents them in an ideal light. Fuck.
Anyway, yeah back this project if you liked Suikoden games. Overall prettyh based. Promised to not do any exclusivity? Done. Repeated several times how console fuckery is so much worse than Steam? Done. Seriously they can't afford to run the beta on anything but Steam because all the consoles would charge equal to 30% of the game's cost for a fucking beta key to be issued, atop what they otherwise ask for. They also know lots of pitfalls and are NOT committing to support the Switch, watching how Bloodstained got fucked and wasted so much time trying to deal with an underpowered console meaning a separate weaker version of the game etc. Done. All crowdfunding stuff goes towards special physical items instead of having exclusive in-game items? Done - important for a single player game. DLC unlocked via stretch goals given first and free to backers, others get access later, though. Done!
The only thing theyh need to do is support Linux so if you back, make a comment requesting it.
If I don't back this, do I miss the chance for a physical copy?
ok
Don't trust KSs on principle.
Probably. Physical copies especially for PC are likely to be pretty rare otherwise. Also since its coming to next-gen consoles we have no idea what they'll be pushing but seeing the PS5 "digital only" version we figure even there its likely there i not going to be much focus on physical media.
No PC no buy.
>back this project if you liked Suikoden games
I liked Suikoden, but I'm not giving free money to developers in exchange for a key to download a game that might or might not ever exist. You'd have to be retarded to actually donate to crowdfund campaigns.
>Kickstarter
People really never learn.
GOTY in 2024, maybe.
Because it’s based on the worst Suikoden
I don't think I've ever seen a KS go so wrong that I didn't at least get what I paid worht of enjoyment out of it. Sometimes, I got far better. There are a lot of successful KS projects, especially single player ones and backing you get them relatively cheap compared to buying later.
this
It's cheaper because of the inherent risk that the project fails, and you have no recourse for refunds. Why is Zig Forums so stupid?
>tl;dr the whole post
>begging for Linux port at the end
I feel gassy
>JRPG
Have you ever seen an experienced dev KS that "didnt' exist" later on? I've not. The game is going to come in a couple of years - are you willing to wager a couple of bucks now to get..
A) The game cheaper when it arrives
B) Stretch goals increasing the quality of the game
C) Extras and shit if you care about them, if not don't bother.
Either way you get the game first , cheaper, and likely with more content for free. I'm willing to wager against the rare chance it won't actually come to fruition to save around $20 and get extra stuff when it does arrive.
>are you willing to wager
No, dumb shit. I just said that.
Its a damn good thing that I can afford to spend $35 or so on that chance and if by some random chance it fails, I'm not exactly in the poorhouse. I mean if you cant afford to buy anything now or whatever that's fine, but lets not pretend its some horribly unstable "investing in some guy who claims to be able to create a time machine" level of likelihood to fail.
A game has to come out for it to be game of the year.
>what are you, poor
No, and not throwing away money is one of the reasons.
I don't trust KS, there were many games that never came out (Unsung, Phoenix), came out and were shit (MN9, Shenmue 3) or successfully came out and was good but the whole campaign is still a mess (Bloodstained)
>something rather than some sort of THE BLACK PEOPLE ARE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT technocracy.
Its really funny you should say that
>Murayama: Marisa’s clan doesn’t live in the forest, they protect the forest and nature. And they are the only group in the game world that has the strongest technology capable of utilizing some powerful rune-lenses. That’s why Marisa is on equal footing with both Nowa’s group and the empire. The technological advances give her clan an edge. We feel confident that when people play as Marisa they will see we are not falling into tropes that would depict her as tribal; instead this is closer to how Wakanda is depicted in Marvel movies.
