Not 50 but certainly not only 8 with such high int requirement.
You can't even feel like a specialist because you can barely have all spells of one school with such high int requirement. And it's impossible to finish the game only with one school like though control.
And there's no on top of that, as pure psi I won't be using any weapons and will have only 2 utility slots that I will barely use because I won't even have enough dex to grab grenadier.

aegis feels better; you get invasions and are likely to genocide both natives and pirates
with pirates you're not really incentivized to genocide anybody but you do get raids, which are neat
pirates get the better jetski feats...but dont really need them for much

PSI-anything was always good, the problem with this nerf is that it's only pure psi that's affected. Hybrids are, relatively, more powerful now.

You see, I'm not saying I need more slots to be viable, TC only need neural overload, mental breakdown and enrage. TM only need temporal distortion, psycho-temp contraction and entropic recurrence. Same for the other schools. But that's it? There's a lot of other interesting spells that will never be used again because you can't play without the optimal ones innervated. It just narrow the possibilities too much.Your average psi will have around 8 Int and 6 fucking slots is TOO FUCKING FEW.

How do I start this game? The character creation bombards me with so many choices, without explaining what exactly they do. How the fuck am I supposed to pick something?
