When is it time to move on from video games? 25? 30? Never? How long do you see yourself playing games for? I am an adult with a real career. No other grown adults I know play video games. Instead they watch Netflix and talk about their dinner last night. I'm thinking it may be time to move on. Also, gaming is not productive and is a "waste of time" as I heard on a recent podcast. What do you think?
When is it time to move on from video games? 25? 30? Never? How long do you see yourself playing games for...
I think it's ok to enjoy videogames and cartoons for as long as you live, but if your mid-late 20s or 30+ don't let your family or peers know. It's embarrassing.
I'm 40. We all play video games. But we are to afraid to admit it, and being sent back to an intern position in the company.
Enjoy your shame with us, Zig Forumsrother
I'm in the tech industry so I'm surrounded by 40 year old gamer weebs. Its not odd in the least.
when you get a gf :)
Eh
Even now I don't game that much, but I don't see a reason to quit entirely.
Also saying that gaming is a waste of time is kinda pretentious. It's fun. Entertainment. Humans always wanted to do something fun, even in the ancient times.
Yeah I've kind of had to keep it a secret and not tell anybody.
Watching Netflix is more of a waste of time than playing vidya
So youl'll exchange video games for netflix and dinner gossip, very grown up of you
Had my first gf years ago at 18 and she loved Final Fantasy...
Got one. She plays JRPGs and gacha shit.
I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. No reason to, anyway.
It’s a leisure activity, like any other
What podcast?
>When is it time to move on from video games?
When you don't have anything you want to play anymore.
>Gaming is not productive and is a waste of time
>I think it's about time to move on to watch netflix
>gaming is not productive and is a "waste of time
>watch Netflix and talk about their dinner last night
How do you hold these two in your head without it cracking open from the cognitive dissonance?
The Joe Rogan Experience. He recently discussed video games and how unproductive they are as a whole.
Roe Jogen
When is it time to move on from [THING]? 25? 30? Never? How long do you see yourself [DOING THING] for? I am an adult with a real career. No other grown adults I know [DO THING]. Instead they watch Netflix and talk about their dinner last night. I'm thinking it may be time to move on. Also, [THING] is not productive and is a "waste of time" as I heard on a recent podcast. What do you think?
>joe rogan
Lol imagine taking the shit he says seriously
When is it time to move on from anything?
When YOU decide to. Until then, fuck anyone that tells you otherwise.
Fuck, OP, don't you even know what 'cool' is?
Thanks, but also:
>OP talks about being a productive person
>Listens to Joe Rogan
Something does not compute...
>When is it time to move on from video games?
When you don't want to play them anymore. Who cares? Why is there an age limit on it? A hobby is a hobby.
How old is too old to build gliders or models? Once you're too old from that, it's time to just spend your time watching TV?
Entertainment is a waste of time but something people need. What does it matter what you do to pass the time and have some fun?
>hurr don't have pass times only do things that are productive
I guess I could believe an american said something as sociopathic as this
>taking any Stoner seriously
>gaming is not productive and is a "waste of time"
And watching kike propaganda on Shitflix and browsing social media is a pinnacle of productivity.
Hard to tell if its bait or not(because of the podcasts part, btw dont listen to that faggot). The answer is kinda, limit your play time to 4 hours max. Start doing something productive like learning a new laungage or something else that will help you acquire a skill. You have to realize that Netflix and gaming are the same since they both waste your time(gaming not so much but still).
I don't have 4 hours per day to play. I work too much. Or did you mean 4 hours a week? That's probably still more time than I spend on them.
This. Also, you should absolutely stop taking them seriously when you're about 25. Play less and don't get aggravated over them or prioritise them over other things any more, they are children's entertainment. Take up other hobbies alongside them, too.
32 and I barely play games at all. Maybe a couple AAA releases a year and a couple indie games. It takes up very little of my time now.
my father got me into videogames and he bought a NES when he was 34 years old
now he is in his late 50s and still plays from time to time, mostly puzzle games but he loved them all
The truth is, I don't even play video games anymore, I just shitpost about them
You have to realize that people claim gaming is a waste of time are also people who spend a good chunk of their time on social media and watching netflix, so they are no different from people who play games.
>netflix is productive
>videogames are not
My father is 60 and still plays. He doesn't give a shit. It's actually been useful for him in his job in sales because he has something in common with the current buyers who are primarily in their 20's-30's
So the problem isn't games, the problem is you have no time management skills.
To think people were crying about her appearance, she's perfect
Divorce-rapes and false rape accusations aren't that nice. Being tricked into raising chad's children is also kinda horrible.
I agree with not gaming much. I usually played video games to decompress when I was working but now that I’m unemployed I feel bad for playing so I stopped completely until I find a job. Keep myself busy with maintaining my house, working out, running errands and such.
Also OP don’t feel weird if people around your age don’t. If their only interested in Netflix and what they ate dinner is pretty boring but as long as they’re happy with that I guess it’s fine. Also if your mentioning that joe rogan podcast just know that’s his opinion entirely and you don’t need to hold that as gospel. There are some truths to it but his whole analogy of “if you can apply the same energy to jiu jitsu then in a few years you can open up your own school.” That’s pretty unrealistic because yeah if you’re disciplined enough and are gifted athletically then their is a chance. You have to factor in the potential injuries that come with a contact sport or whatever you class that under. Not only that but the membership fees, maintaining a healthy diet, having income to support it, and a whole bunch of other things I can’t think of. As long as you have a healthy balance of playing video games and maintaining responsibilities then you won’t feel shame towards it. Also don’t really care about what people think about you. I stopped giving a fuck about what people may think of me. Mostly focusing on my gf, my dog, my family, and most importantly me.
>Also, gaming is not productive and is a "waste of time" as I heard on a recent podcast. What do you think?
go back
>boomers will call video games a waste of time and money, then bet on sports
I cannot wait for the technologically illiterate to be gone from the earth.
>Work my shitty little job
>Affords me a shitty little car
>And a shitty little house
>And a dumb dog
>With a little left over to squirrel away or spend on vidya or what ever hobby of the month catches my fancy
>Put in my hours at work
>Spend my time off running around the hills with the dog, playing vidya, jacking off to furry porn, or just doing whatever sounds neat. This week, I'm soldering together this goofy LED tower I found on ebay
>tfw having a pretty good time
Who care if you're "too old" to be doing this or that? You just gotta spend some time doing something you enjoy.
Stopped taking them seriously at like 22. I play occasionally only those series that have accompanied me all my life like casual Smash Bros matches and updating my Living Pokédex in Pokémon. I can spend months without playing anything and then I get an urge and get addicted for a week. When I'm feeling like it I spend a weekend on some Paradox GS game.
I abandoned Zig Forums for like 3 years. Rarely visit. My main hobby became reading non fiction books.
You have zoomers replacing boomers when it comes to being tech illiterate, so don't worry, those people wont go away.
There won't be as much of a tech gap between 2000-2050 as there was from 1950-2000.
>still caring about what old boomers think
Whenever you feel like it. I stopped playing video games at 32 or 33 and it feels kinda good to see people rage over them.
Those hobbies actually produce something of value. Even if you only keep them to yourself they are tangible things that can be admired for their artwork or handywork and people might want some day. They also probably develop a lot of skills, health benefits etc. that make you a better person in society.
Consuming games doesn't produce anything valuable for anyone else except a list of made up trophies. Nobody wants or cares about that shit and it says nothing about you except you're good at timesinking. That's why video games, junk TV, gossip magazines etc. will always recieve shit and not get the respectable mark of a hobby like sailing or building etc. will.
That's unless you actually apply what you get out of gaming to do something productive, like going on to make your own games or in some way use a skill you developed out of gaming in something useful to wider society.
If you don't care that's fine. But you'll always be ostracized to some extent. People are good at sniffing out what's a drain on society and scorn the people who do it.
