I am CONVINCED that 100 years ago they were all normal sized, and Link did side quests to help them out in the past. And they all harbor lust for the great Hero after how dashing he was. This is further added on the fact that he wouldn’t even be able to see them, has he not been pure of heart ingame (it allows him to see dragons, koroks, and regular fairies).
