Surprising hidden gem. Hair whipping is annoying and everything related to Zombie Caravan is pure bullshit (race included), but otherwise it's a fantastic title. Oddly enough it's not very confusing.

This game just awesome. Abilities are fun and it has one of the best stories in metroidvanias. Run Run Rottytops and the palace are among worst sections in the series and I don't enjoy formula of linear maps with backtracking, the issue which will become even worse in HGH.

Rather Half-Finished Game. I'm fine with this game being linear platformer, but I am not fine that it's padded with backtracking. However Friends to The End and arcade modes from DLC are really fun, especially Officer Shantae. They remove backtracking and focus on platforming which expose the strengths of the game.

I love this game. I'm glad WayForward returned to metroidvanias and I enjoy the setting, platforming and instant transformations. Way too easy. Suffers a bit from being formulaic, but it's my favorite.

It's a flawed game that caters to my taste enough for me to ignore smaller issues. It's the only Shantae game that I platinumed if that says anything. Pirate's Curse is probably a safer recomendation.

Hey, I just finished Seven Sirens last night and we have very similar opinions. I 100% the game on my first run, and I look forward to doing a second run in Genie Mode (why'd the name is NG+ this time?) sometime soon. A couple of responses:

Run Run Rottytops I can understand because of the difficulty, but I think it's unique enough to warrant existing. It's a fun break from the typical gameplay, even if it took me like 20+ attempts my first time. However, you didn't like the palace? I can't imagine why. I think it was a fun level.

Instant transformations in Seven Sirens was the best thing they could've done because it emulates the pirate abilities of Pirate's Curse while still making it feel like Shantae. I thought the actual dance spells were dull until I started realizing how they all have multiple uses, both for combat and exploration.
My biggest complaint about Seven Sirens was the bosses, save for the final. Fuck Octosiren, was there something I just wasn't seeing or was it literally luck to pick the right sequence. Final boss was great, though; chunky amount of health that I couldn't just blow through with scimitars, and I really loved the platforming in the final phase.
I love this series, man.
