Super Paper Mario is so based it triggered Shiggy for ages to come.
So is this the first time they've directly confirmed it? I know they talked about lack of variety before.
I just beat Origami King a while ago.
I'd give it a 6/10 at best and 2 of those points are because I'm biased in favor of any game that has cute and funny Bowser in it.
There was an interview about a week or so ago that touched upon it but today he reaffirmed it.
It's been implied but this was pretty much the first time Tanabe said it as plainly as he could. Guess he got tired of being thrown under the bus.
it is now lmao
No he talked about it directly in a spanish interview as well "At the moment, it is not possible for us to create original characters like the Goombas or modified Toads seen in past games, or to reuse such characters from past games"

I think they should just dump Paper Mario in general. It's just a regular 3D Mario game but with paper jokes.
>Bowser cunny
No.
I don't make the rules for reptile genitalia, it just is what it is.
He's still shit for making the gameplay bad.
Well if Origami King fails to have legs that's probably what'll happen.
Maybe Miyamoto is sabotaging Paper Mario so it dies but you people keep buying them.
miyamoto defenders on suicide watch. any exec responsible for ruining paper mario needs to just retire already
man thats really rough, I am not usually that cynical but that really hurts it for me
Thanks, it's been a longtime theory since Color Splash but I wasn't sure if it was confirmed before this. What a crock of shit. Were people actually mad at the geometric characters in Super? I saw a lot more complaints about the removal of turnbased combat.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH IS THAT A THING VAGUELY RESEMBLING A GENERAL? CULTURAL PHENOMENON™ SUPER™ SMASH™ BROS™, SAVE ME!
who's you people? super paper was so bad I never bought another paper mario again.
>even sunshine got retconed
the millions that still buy this game for some reason.
Oh yeah for sure, I'm not arguing that point.
Christ just shut up already
Pretty much, casuals bought super thinking it was a new mainline mario and got scared away which made nintendo make sure everything stays on point at all times
That happened a while ago, Paper Jam established them as different universes.
There's the argument to be made that it's separate universes, which has some foundation in M&L Paper Jam introducing the idea that they're different worlds.
It would be for the best, anyway. If they're not gonna bother, what's the point having the series around.
nintendo historically has never developed in-house RPGs, with the rare recent exception being Miitopia on 3DS
at very best they supervise series like Fire Emblem and Pokémon, but those are all developed by affiliate studios
I wonder if some rouge ex-Alphadream employee will detail all the mandates the Mario series has now
There was nothing bad about it. It was the highest selling Paper Mario game and the fans always gossiped about it. Why are we trying to rewrite history now?
Super had fucking awful character design. It was also a terrible game in general and I can't understand why it has defenders here.
SPM is dogshit, kys zoomer
Every Paper Mario game since Sticker Star is a blatant alternate universe. 64, TTYD, and SPM clearly fit in the more "central" timeline.
The gameplay isn't bad though, it's just a different genre. People who like puzzle-adventure games seem to be praising it a lot.
>game not turnbaed rpg so game bad
only a handful of zoomers defend that trash.
>popularity = quality meme
It was the highest selling because it was on the fucking Wii, and unlike TOK people still thought the franchise was good at that point.
Remember this
