Do you enjoy double tap to dash?
Do you enjoy double tap to dash?
No. The only dash move I've liked has been in castlevania series where you can just execute the move at a press of a button, without requiring double-tapping or tapping together with the dpad
No
I remember playing Kirbys Epic Yarn as a kid not knowing you could even dash. Still beat all the race levels up to like Dededes Castle.
No, circle for life
Fuck no and i just beat the Xtreme games. For some reason the 3ds VC puts select in the Y button but dont put start in the X button so you still have to double tap in Xtreme1
>I remember playing Kirbys Epic Yarn as a kid not knowing you could even dash
Holy shit Zoomers need to be banned
On-topic, double-tap to dash is garbage
No I use R
Yes. It just makes sense to my muscle memory since I grew up with fighting games and beat em ups.
Holding/pressing a button to dash or having analog control determine the speed of your character just feels inherently wrong to me.
I prefer B/Y but Kirby makes it work.
in smash bros you have to move the stick slowly to walk, but its so sensitive that its easy to accidentally dash, which locks you out of any tilt attacks and its annoying af
chad r-dasher
I use L.
>On-topic, double-tap to dash is garbage
Why? Shitty dpads with no tactile feedback and loosy pressure points alongside analog sticks just being trash in general are one thing, but double tapping to dash made all the sense in the world back in the day. It's an effortless, instantaneous input and relegating one button towards it specifically just means wasting that button that could've been used for some other better action to deepen the gameplay in basic movement, or a crutch for the heavily physically impaired.
No. I Dash + Jump + Charge shot like a Chad.
A dedicated button allows for more precision and less overall inputs.
why would you not use L/R to dash
no, i can barely fucking do it cuz of my trigger finger
makes fighting games even fucking harder
I wish Capcunt would take that shit off from MMZ and the MMXCs. Literally just that
this
and in zero/zx the r is reserved for subweapons
Double tap to dash is slower because it makes you have to momentarily stop to dash as you double press. It is not fluid at all. The separate dash button lets you dash without stopping your running.
R for main weapon, B for sub, bruh
Why the fuck do they have R+B for sub weapon as default? It's fucking stupid so most people playing have no idea you can charge both weapons
The double tap is near instantaneous (as in it shouldn't take you more than single digit frames to input) once you get comfortable with doing it, at least on a dpad and an arcade stick. It is fluid; you just need faster thumbs and to git gud to make it so, essentially.
How do you hold you controller?
I map the sub weapon to R so I can easily jump while charging my buster I don't use the claw
a button is superior and this was figured out over 3 decades ago. The only exception is when there's no "dash" button and everything is based on building up speed and momentum
Based shoulder button dashers
usually put it on L or R
Instantaneous > near instantaneous
Fuck no. All it ever does is come out by mistake and make you take damage.
I fucking hate when there's no option to turn it off.
It's literally a non issue and that button could've been used to add another really cool mechanic to the game instead. Imagine being able to use more than one sub weapon at the same time in the (good) X or Zero games, and how that could massively improve level and enemy design.
But sadly double tapping a dpad accurately is too hard for most people.
Looking at the replies ITT makes me feel like I'm just some crazy fuck.
>kinda shit tier
double tapping
>okay tier
face button
>elder god tier
Shoulder button
Fucking hated trying to run in Smash 64 with those dogshit N64 analog sticks, shit was like a 50% chance of running or walking forward.
lmao look at this crazy fuck
Depends on the game, it's okay in stuff like God Hand but I want a dash button for Mega Man.
L3 to sprint can fuck off, those stick buttons are the worst.
I mean, you are
L to dash to the left and R to dash to the right
Double tapping an analog button to run isn't so bad, since you only need to do it once to get going. If you want to quickly dash across a boss room in Mega Man X it's MUCH easier to mash a button than it is to double tap constantly.
GET THE FUCK OUT.
I put buster on R and use B for sword
