No they are not, they all get defeated, then muh nakama happens and win. Every fucking time, for years and years.

game is set In the early through middle/late portion of the series. If anything you’re only missing the initial world building isn’t that hard to grasp.

>you’re in a magic guild
>you have nakama
>there are rival and antagonistic guilds
If you’ve even touched a typical shounen store you’ll be fine.
