Is Persona 5 the worst jrpg ever?

I found FFXV to be much worse.

>empty open world
>need an anime, CGI movie, DLCs, and a novel to get the full story
>AI party members that do shit
>will always enter a bleedout mode at 0 HP so you can spam items

It can get pretty wordy but I'm loving Pee Five so far.

vanilla p3/4 are worse by default just because of how fucking archaic slow and grindy the combat is
p4g and p5 do share the negative of being too easy to minmax/steamroll the game with though

KH3 is legimately the worst AAA game i've ever played

if you judge it as a PS3 game then it's good, if you judge it as a PS4 game then it's lackluster

Even by the metrics you're describing, FFXIII would be much worse

Same. The entire first disk of FFXIII felt like a tutorial

FF13 or Pokemon Gen 7
in both games, there's next to no difficulty and 90% of the game is a hand-held tutorial.

a) Original Dragon Quest
b) Original Megami Tensei
c) Original Phantasy Star
d) a SaGa Frontier game for the PSX, dropped in like 5 minutes
e) Final Fantasy Tactics
f) Final Fantasy II

Start with IX.
Play VII.
XII is only good if you get the Job System version.

At least XV was trying to do some cool things although it left it being hit/miss overall. P5 is the exact same game as P3/P4 except they made it even worse. I'll take some attempts at creativity over the same thing again.

Persona 5 isn't "worst JRPG EVER" tier, even if you exclude shovelware, but it's definitely mediocre as fuck, and easily one of the most disappointing games of all time, especially speaking as a MegaTen fan.

There are many things XII does wrong yet you go ahead and criticize the one thing it does best. I don’t know what to say, I feel like I’m being played.

From what I've played, I'd say the top three are V, VI and IX.
V has by far the most comprehensive job system among the FF games that actually use one.
IX is an amalgamation of a lot of the earlier FF games (1-5) with the production values of the PS1 era of games.
VI is the best of the magitek era of games, in my opinion

It’s a masterpiece in style and presentation but it does certainly have flaws

Tactics is the best one. 4,5,6 are very good sprite based traditional ones. 7,8,9 are the golden age of PS1 era, each vastly different than the other. 10 is amazing to a lot of people, I would agree. 12 is divergent, a great game but not necessarily a great Final Fantasy.

Hmm its almost like any RPG made in the last century has story and cutscenes

I just got burned out on Persona games. Beat both 3 and 4 and liked them, but I can only sink so many hours into being a high schooler making friends while dungeon crawling in secret before it becomes a slog. I didn't play them back to back of course, but it's still one of those "I've been here before" experiences. I still think it's a good series, it's just not for me anymore.
